stevieb
West upper. They're all dying off now. Least impact to existing fans In all seriousness I'd have been all over this back when I was 20. Now I'm knocking on 40 and can't be arsed going let alone watching the match the idea of standing up all game leaves me cold. It's a young man's game. It's got to be nob head corner or nowhere in my opinion

SatanGreavsie
20 hours ago, desperado said: Well you can… but you wouldn’t see anything! 🤣 Yeh, which would have been the case anyhow without safe standing. But unless I missed it there was nothing on the site when ordering to say it was a standing area? As an old cunt the rails did make it passable but in normal circumstances I'd not be best chuffed doing it for the whole game - though being a lanky cunt the sitting on the edge of the upturned seat usually works OK. Oddly, safe standing went down the shitter anyhow when stewards (in their hordes) gave up trying to get people to seats and allowed the aisles to be rammed with standers. Must have cost a bob or two to put them rails in.

Not in terms of our financial stability, there are clearly plans in place and funding secured / identified, but just football in general (which is not really a surprise to be fair). We’ve got owners and Management that have a lot of business acumen, they have plans in place for us to become self-sustainable, they have managed to double considerable chunks of our revenue streams, we’re one of the biggest clubs in the league and therefore footballing revenues will reflect that, and despite all that we can’t break even. The key reason will be player wages and running costs of the stadium, so what do you do? Reduce the wage bill which likely means a worse team and therefore accepting you won’t likely get promoted (which then has a knock on negative impact on revenue and becomes a vicious circle) or you have a smaller stadium, which isn’t a possibility, but if it was would also mean lower revenue generation both in the current league and ability to maximise revenue if you were to get promoted. It’s a completely broken industry and is wholly reliant on supplementing your trading revenue with profit on player sales (which is easier said than done) or being propped up by your owner. I suppose as long as there are enough people that want to fund the losses of a club in the hope they can get it to the Prem and cash out for profit then it will carry on, it just goes against any other normal industry. I think part of the model they are working on/hoping to work on, is in tandem with these analytics people. If we fail to go up, wouldn't surprise me if we sold Santos, promoted Forrester to a more prominent role and looked to pick up another Forrester to improve. Thomason similar - sell him on and look for a 20 year old L2 version etc. It's probably always been the plan to pay smallish fees for players eventually then aim to sell them on for millions. Takes time but can be done with excellent scouting

A fairer share of the Premier League’s money would help.

Takes time but can be done with excellent scouting The problem is that bigger clubs rarely pay big fees for L1 and L2 players, unproven at a higher level unless they’re obviously exceptional, which very few are. You’re much more likely to get a transformational fee for the likes of George and Rico if you’re n the Championship and they’ve proved themselves against better players. That for me is why it’s essential we get up this year because otherwise I fear we’ll lose our better players for peanuts as we nearly did with George previously. Look at Wharton going from Rovers to Palace for £19m. Is he really £18m better than GT? Better yes, but not that gulf
