Burnley seemed to get a tough draw, having to beat Aberdeen, The Turkish outfit and Olympiakos just to get to the group stage seems brutal compared to our routes (Plovdiv one year and Robotniki the next?)

The particular perversity of the system was that Burnley were bound to be seeded for their first two ties but simply could not be seeded for the decisive round. They got Olympiacos, but it could equally have been Sevilla, Zenit, Basel or Besiktas.

Rangers, on the other hand, were unseeded for the third round against Maribor. Because the draw was made for the next round before the second leg they benefitted from Maribor's seeding coefficient. Having beaten Maribor they avoided all the teams Burnley might face (in fact they became potential opponents).

On MOTD they're raving about Alonso with Sarri saying he might be the best left back in Europe

How times change

Aye. It did seem lost on then that every clip of him was in an attacking position.

When they discussed the possibility of a sending of he was shown being defensively poor and getting a yellow. Not a single example of a tackle or interception.

I do like the player, but they got it wrong last night.

Fair fucks to Watford, great result that.

If calsberg did a bottom 3 for relegation, the current 3 would take some beating.

they seem to do alright manager wise as well depending on how you look at it

only one of their last 12 has made if through 2 seasons (Mackay), Zola managed 18 months, the rest a season or less

it's like they are perpetually in a state of new manager syndrome, which is probably why they are doing so well

or, they have a good system/infastructure, and they only ever go for a Head Coach that fits the criteria. Means they never have to rip up and re-start.
