Jake Wright was the defensive organiser (very aware of what’s going on, always talking, shouting, pointing) in our league one promotion year and is actually bit of a legend at Bramall Lane after his run of over 30 games without defeat I cannot think of a better player for you to bring in under the circumstances - well liked modest and sensible professional who you could build a defence around and I expect would also bring on your younger players Wish him success, hearty thanks and I hope he is as good for you as he was for the Blades

  9. Hey Boltonians, Should've done this when I first joined but the Takeover thread was too engrossing. Apologies. Think I'm about half the age of most on here but I've enjoyed reading posts from a wealth of characters. Can't promise I'll be the most active member (call me plastic) now the takeover has been completed but I hope to chime in here and there because I do enjoy reading some more detailed discussions than on the likes of twitter. Maybe some of you hope I'm culled as one of the many who joined during HowardWays. Feel slightly embarrassed about that whole thing now but I was rather taken by the spin he put on the takeover saga. Call me naive and young, it's probably true. Anyhow, story time. When I was very young, about 5-8 years old, I was a huge David Beckham fan and so I "followed" Man Utd, though I was too young to really understand football at that point. Anyway, Beckham left for Madrid, I lost my interest in football a bit, until I started playing more on the playground in primary school. My Dad, Bolton fan all his life, took me to the Reebok to see Bolton vs Man U in the home seats. Think it was this match https://www.premierleague.com/match/4847 I remember the crowd roaring when we scored and I was so happy for Bolton. I could feel the electricity from the stadium all through my body. I'd never felt that way about a football goal before. It was confusing because I thought I supported Man U but since then I have always been a Bolton fan. I've grown up a bit now, plan to get a season ticket when they're out and support the club. COYW!
  10. I cant look beyond just playing a game where we are competitive. That would be fantastic. EFL will want to punish us as much as possible now that we've got a team, and in light of how they dealt with Bury and took criticism for being "lenient" with us. So I'm happy to see some proper football this season then enjoy being on zero points from next summer, in whatever division.
  11. Here's something for you. I've said before but I'll ask specifically, would it help if it wasn't always referred to as mental health? It's an illness, with different causes, symptoms and treatments etc. Just like another organ that might malfunction in some way. Perhaps if it was expressed more in terms of hormones etc and a physical issue of the brain people could associate with it more and see it for what it is, rather than some sort of mysterious hoodoo that separates you from the rest of society for being two drops short of a piss?

LeighWhite does it again 😄 I think we should have a variation on the old "on this day" strips that used to be in papers and comics back in the day. So for the next week: On this day: 2nd September 2005 LeighWhite got a noshing behind a skip in Runcorn On this day: 3rd September 1984 LeighWhite shagged a lass running a chippy in Cleethorpes and then got a free cod, chips, mushy peas (and scraps) before beating a hasty retreat out of the bathroom window when her hubby came back. On this day: 4th September 1968 LeighWhite got expelled after it turned out he'd been wanked off by Miss Nuttall during his Art OLevel exam. On this day: 5th September 1976 LeighWhite got his first Selnec clippercard On this day: 6th September 1976 LeighWhite got banned by Selnec for inventing a way to fiddle clippercards. On this day: 7th September 1981 LeighWhite got in a fight in Market Drayton and received a banning order from WHSmith On this day: 8th September 2002 LeighWhite woke up covered in sick in a Premier Inn linen cupboard in Nuneaton. He blagged a full English before being rumbled and made his way back home via the 206 bus to Burton and then thumbing a lift from two Belgian lasses, one of whom tossed him off near Uttoxeter and then stole his wallet

  15. Every GP in Bolton now has a Mental Health Practitioner. Someone you can go and speak to who is a bit more specialist than your GP and can get you quicker access to services if that's what you need. A lot of the time - they can sort it for you at the surgery with some lower level support.
  16. Fucking love the fact a few of those we've signed today have cancelled their contracts just to play for us.
  17. A lot of those goals were more about the defenders around him, he's saved a shitload of other chances.

It wears a bit thin with me too at times Chris, I must admit, when I get such abuse from those who clearly are here to continually troll me over some perceived internet sleight often originating on another forum dating from years back. I post what I do in an attempt to explain the best I can what is going on rather than let the wildly wrong and often misinformed twitter world version of events be taken as gospel - as sadly they are by many. A number of people have posted kind words appreciating what I've tried to do, my biggest failing in many peoples eyes being that I go into to much depth explain things, which means my postings are lengthy (viewing on mobile phones anyway) but it's not easy explaining legal and financial intricacies in just a sentence or two - or clearly I would! Obviously a number of people don't want to bother themselves with financial and legal aspects of running the club but without it there simply is no club to support! Just because they don't want to read about it though shouldn't mean that no one else can talk about it though! Fwiw I didn't start this thread about the new owners, I simply queried why someone would secure £40m worth of loans against £30m worth of assets that have literally just been bought a few days ago - is that not a reasonable thought to have had? Cue the trolls. Nothing to do with Anderson, nothing to do with a long and wordy post, just the usual suspects trolling me for trolling sake. I guess I am stupid by simply not bothering to post anything anymore and just take from the site by reading it only and not give anything back in return, but I was brought up to not take without giving back and as I've explained above I try and do that by explaining stuff I believe I know a little bit about to others who may be interested. Some people don't want to listen Chris and others just come to troll and abuse but I don't post for their benefit and it would be a sad day for those who respect your knowledge and professionalism of accountancy - and what the story it reveals is - if you decided not to post here anymore. Don't let the haters drive you away.

  23. Correct Joe, huge
  24. As I said the other day, they won't give up, they want to stay in the league and these 9 signings confirm that intention. More to come on a free in following days, I'm sure.
  25. Once in a lifetime transfer deadline day for us. Let's leave any bitching and negativity in the past and just enjoy the day and welcome all the new players.
  26. There's a team going to get absolutely pumped by us in the coming weeks, an angry, cathartic thrashing.

  30. I think more action needs taking on climate change. However if there's one thing guaranteed to annoy me its scruffy professional protesters browbeating and lecturing. A number of them are in it more because they like the anti-capitalist element than the actual climate change element. If you want to drive folk away from the cause carry on behaving like smelly hippies, encouraging children to strike on school days and waving placards around. And David Attenborough is not a God.
  31. It's ace being back to talking football innit
  32. Wouldn't be the first kid to take the wrong move too early, especially given the circumstances at the time. Quiet lad being booted to Forest on deadline day so we could pay the wages. Zaha has done alright back at Palace after doing nothing at United and Cardiff.

BJ wouldn't be PM now if we'd had half decent leaders before. Strangely, he's now showing more leadership than any of the others. Might be putting noses out of joint, but it might just be necessary to move the situation on.

I'm only seeing Sharon and a guy called Nick Lucock who when I Google him appears to be an Australian travel entrepreneur. I haven't found much on him but his group seem to have acquired a hotel last year so assuming that it's the same fella may explain why the hotel was so important to FV. Edit:- Different Luckock (note the spelling). When I spell it as shown at companies house I get somebody from HG Capital, more likely to be him I guess.

  44. My dad was football mad and a Wanderer, when i was a kid if Bolton were playing miles away, he'd take me anywhere in the North West to watch a game - Gigg Lane,Old Trafford,Maine Road,Goodison, etc. Admittedly Man U did have a great side back then and Bolton were experiencing a deep trough, i remember him taking me to OT a bit more often than usual, but i never felt any attachment or love for them, it wasn't my town, they weren't my team. I asked him to stop taking me to OT as i wanted to watch my own team. The only time i've ever been back is when we've played there, i've seen us win there 3 times but still hate the place.
