Rob Edwards heading to Brizzle it seems.

Steve Cooper early fav for Boro.

Interesting. A chauffeur driven Merc was outside his house on Tuesday & Mr. C got in dressed uncommonly formally.

I wondered if he had some interview on.

Ange season 3 cancelled!

No surprise, he tried to claim he'd a great season because they'd beaten the might of Elfsborg, AZ Alkmaar, Frankfurt, Bodo Glimt and Man U 😀

Let's forget finishing 4th bottom, losing at home to Leicester, 0-0 after 90 minutes at Tamworth etc.

WBA given Ryan Mason his first managerial job.

I'll give him till the October international break.  Nice bloke, probably a good coach, he's not going to be shown a lot of patience judging by WBA sacking two proven managers in the preceding 6 months.  As with Huddersfield, being a manager with no track record to fall back on means you can't afford 2 or 3 consecutive defeats when you're expected to be a challenger.

Feel a bit for Ange. The squad he has is tripe and the bits of quality he has have been mostly injured. Coming out of the season with a trophy and champions league could have been just what he needed to get some better players in.

Two progressively worse finishes. 17th for a team like Spurs is just abject. The trophy just glossed over how shit things had got.

His naive high line might work against dogshit opponents but against actual elite players it doesn't. In the Champions League they'd be shipping 5 or 6. More wedded to the system than IE was.

His system migt work in a league where he has the best players but in the EPL it won't.

This is very Spurs

A major trophy and qualified for CL football

Technically their best season since the PL started

In one way I get it

Make the most of next season by (hoping to) bring in someone who knows what they're doing

However it's not like it worked out with Mourinho or Conte

But Ange was never going to work, he's just a big personality with pub league success

Trophy's a trophy.

Spurs fans seem to prefer Pochettino's nice football and no trophies

I do get that they had a terrible league season but I'm not sure their squad is that good. Who would make a top 5 squad? Van de Ven is the only one for me

Is the manager that's been there two years part of that process?  For Ange read Evatt, poor recruitment and/or tactics.  We can't say "Liverpool had a good season but their squad is good, so not much credit to Slot".

Just playing devil's advocate BTW, I don't care that much 😀

Their sqaud wasn't deep enough to cope with their injuries and a going far in cups and League.

That's not Anges fault.

He did change his ways btw. Anyone that's says he didn't clearly failed to watch them at Frankfurt and in the final.

He might well be to blame for a lot of the injuries though.

It looks like they're appointing Thomas Frank

A very Spurs appointment

I think he'd be a good appointment. Done wonders at Brentford.

I think Iraola would've been a good appointment too.

Makes far more sense than appointing someone who's done well in a farmers' league.

Nuno Santo did wonders at Wolves and now at Forest

In between he did nowt for Spurs

I like Frank but not convinced he'll get Spurs where they want or think they should be

Spurs biggest issue tends to be they are shite at spending money

Frank feels in a similar position to Allardyce when he left us. Deserves a shot. Probably will go about it differently. Spurs is a tough gig but someone will get it right at some point. It’s a great job for the man that can.

Good point.

Is it worth the risk? Maybe to Frank it is, as he would probably get another gig in the top flight if he didn't succeed.

He has shown his worth.

That said, I see no reason that he couldn't take Brentford that step further into European football, which is all he is likely to achieve at best if he took the spurs job.

Maybe he could do better, and wait a position at a big club that is doing well becomes available.

The length piece of string discussion.

Biggest issue for any spurs manager is dealing with Daniel Levy.

But spurs for years have been the club equivalent of England a good side but never good enough to win something. This season they've been shit but actually won something.
