Great first half. Been a while we could watch without stress..

This fixture always reminds me of this, at the end of the game youri threw his shirt in the fans . I was a bout three seats away from it. I'd swap my kids for that shirt.

Thinly veiled holiday post, but I watched that game in a bar in Goa.

Anyone on the cancelled 19:13 to Wigan choose to get the 20:25 instead of rushing for the 18:25? @jeep? 👀

Also assume Avanti sorted you out onward from Preston @Traf?

Fun and games on the railways, all part of the craic! Although t’wife went to bed half an hour ago, all of four hours after leaving the ground 😂 long away day apparently?! We’ve been home later than this from a home game! 🤣

Avanti put a coach on from Preston, calling at all the stations the train should have, God help those travelling to Glasgow!
But I'd already rang the wife and got her to come to Preston to pick me up. We were back in Carnforth by 9.15pm.

On the way down, I jumped off my slow direct train at Stafford, waited 20mins for the next one and got to London an hour earlier than I would have done. Ticket inspector wasn't arsed.

As for the game, I thought we were generally excellent from start to finish. I'm no Randy Williams fan, but he had a really good game yesterday and it's good to see him chipping in with goals.

The only downside (again) is not putting the game to bed sooner, it's always a worry with missed chances. Williams could have had a couple more, but I thought the Charles chance was the worst miss.

Oh, and I bet Alfie May's feeling a bit cramped today after spending 90 minutes in Rico's pocket.

Cracking day out, bumped into a few off here... Mr Grey, the Colonel, Brixton, casino, Big Bird (Mutley & Rice got left behind...), embankment, Ashburner St Fish Market, and the Barely Alive Gang....

Managed to do 4 pubs pre-match in London Bridge, spoilt for choice in that area...

Train journey down was smooth....

BWFC played well...

Rush across London to get back for the 6.25pm train. Made it with loads of time....

Back home for last 30 minutes of the RWC Final...

Hopefully for Leyton Orient the trains won't be cancelled....

Charlton have no luck with the timing of their matches with us.  Last season when we beat them at home after losing 2 on the trot, it was the start of a 4 match winning run, scoring 8 conceding 1; when we played them away it was the 2nd of that 5 match winning run when we scored 14 and conceded 1.

Feb 2022 beat them in the middle of a run of 5 wins and a draw, including the 6-0 v Sunderland.

Can we play them every month?

Some things from yesterday.......Santos really is very, very good, he completely nullified May obviously in the air, but more surprisingly completely on the ground as well.....but he also very effectively led the counter attacking charge a couple of times, once finishing with a delicate chip that Randy should have scored from.

To be fair to May, he went wider & deeper to get away from Santos & was their best player, but not much of a threat from there.

& Victor, last couple of games he has used his physical strength much better to hold defenders off, but has shown some lovely touches like when he put Charles through.

& the trains....at least we know the players got back, they got off the train at Stockport presumably onto a waiting coach.......I didn't know they risked travelling by rail !!

I think I've got about 4 separate refund claims working through the system at the minute.

They didn't have an option for only sending 2 carriages instead of 4 meaning it was too overcrowded to get on which delayed me an hour the other week, so thats currently at appeal as well.

It's fucked. A genuine surprise when a journey runs smoothly these days, no exaggeration whatsoever.

Should get a decent refund for the 90 minute outbound delay yesterday as well.

I've two in from last week plus a full complaint about Northern cancelling the last four services to Blackpool last Wednesday. Avanti and TPE are at least up front about running reduced services, Northern have been doing it under the radar for months.

It's a faff but bang every single claim in, fire the complaints in and copy the incompetent Transport Secretary, Mark Harper in on them all so his inbox blows up

, I do think shots on target are a decent stat. If they have 0 you ain't going to lose !

They can be a funny one sometimes

Remember city losing to West Brom 0-1 who had zero shots on goal due to an own goal

You can have a 20 yard daisy cutter which is easy for the keeper count as a shot on target or a point blank range attempt hit the woodwork which doesn't

I'd take facing daisy cutters on target all day long

maybe it's why folk like XG

Tbf Spurs were 2 up on Friday with 1 shot on goal. My original point was to Victor Miserable Meldrew who was saying we could easily have ended up drawing the game when in fact we were the better throughout and more goals for us would have more likely.

It does amuse me that the doom and gloom after Carlisle (including me) has been replaced by unfettered optimism by many (not including me yet). My optimism is still slightly in check.

We got off at Stockport and a few players went into different waiting cars.

my lad got his picture with santos in Sainsbury’s.

What a great day out.

george in London Bridge for a good catch up with folk.

excellent performance.  Santos made some really important blocks and thought Randell was really good.

only slight complaint we should have scored more and but for a couple of bad misses by them, could have been an uncomfortable end to the game.

Backs of my legs are in bits after those goal celebrations.

decent chat with Charlton fans on the train back to London Bridge.

couple more swift ones in the grapes and then photo with jones and Charles on the train home.

if carlsberg made days out………
