Chances I can remember are

1. Toal 30 yarder

2. Toal free header

3. Lofted ball to Maghoma in first half on right hand side. Shot blocked from 7 yards.

4. Ogbeta shooting near post in second half when he should’ve crossed it for Victor

5. one or two low crosses that got blocked. On another day would’ve fallen to one of our players but didn’t.

6. Sheehan free kick that went just wide

so we did have chances to score but absolutely nothing for Victor or Collins and nothing for JDB and Jerome when they came on. And only 2 of those were from open play

7 Sheehan Freekick straight at keeper

For 4, I think it was a badly miss hit  cross.

So you're saying Evatt is the worst manager in the Football League? Aye alright.

You should either be a politician or a Cricketer because people say one thing then you dont read it right and put what you think they say.

Fuck off upstairs and get that wax washed out of your ears, come back down and start again

Agreed but that team there last night should be beating Wigan. Same on Saturday.

On another day, they would have. That's just football. It feels far worse because it was against Wigan - especially after Saturday - but every team wins games they don't deserve to, and loses some they deserved to win.

Indeed but its a reoccurring theme with our current set up. We just dont win big fixtures or 6 pointers.

And don't we know it!

Think they've only got one forward who is 34 and are relying on midfield for goals

If there was ever a chance for us to finally win there this would be it

This obviously relies on us turning up but the chance is there

Derby have "experienced" players all over the park, and most if not all of them have played at a higher level.

As regards forwards, Waghorn (Sunderland, Leicester, Rangers) has been injured but is coming back and was brought on last night - to replace Dwight Gayle (Palace, Newcastle, West Brom)  who has just joined them plus they have Tom Barkhuizen (Blackpool, Preston)  Bird (on loan from Bristol City) and Mendez-Laing (Wolves, Sheff U & W, Boro etc) - a pretty potent strike force when they're all fit and every one of them knows where the goal is - hundreds of career goals between them so don't write them off.

They are a huge threat, but so are Barnsley who will overtake us if they win their game in hand and we get anything other than a win at their place.

All we can do is focus on our own performances and regardless of injuries and poor refereeing etc we have to do enough to overcome those obstacles.

I wasn't writing them off, just saying don't over estimate them

Who they have previously played for is largely irrelevant, they sold Bird to Bristol City and loaned him straight back so he hasn't kicked a ball for his parent club

Gayle has scored about 3 goals in 50 odd games and is 34

Waghorn is also 34 and scored 9 goals in his last 60 odd games, granted he's scored 6 of them currently for Derby

And Bird isn't a forward and has scored 6 goals in 168 games as a Derby player

The Portsmouth manager, had never heard of him before but not my job too, but massively overtaken Evatt in half the time.

Someone like him please.

When he joined Pompey I read the comments he made and this one sticks out... Perhaps I.E. should pay attention to this.

“I am a firm believer that to achieve success, you must possess an openminded approach. By simply doing the same things again and again, we only reduce the prospect of propelling the club forward.

Not good enough again.

A few weeks ago the world was our oyster games in hand win those go clear at the top.

Playoff failure is in our future once more, can't see our lot having the stones to win when the pressure is on.

Them games in hand have been the biggest waste of time going. We should of just negotiated some defeats and had a mini pre season for collins

We dominated possession but created next to nothing.

Big Vic was not the worst player tonight although he is way off what we would hope. Collins looks lost, really struggling to see what he brings.

Once again his subs were baffling, first one CMG for Collins was forced and Dempsey for Paris no surprise but they had just scored we needed something different but we stuck to the same formation.

Sheehan for Jerome to let Collins play a number 10 role was terrible, did CJ or Big Daddy touch the ball ?

Legohead had a decent game rest all 5/10, did the basics but never looked like doing enough to win the game.

I'm neither for or against with the Collins debate, just seeing how it unfolds, but in terms of what he brings, we've seen flashes of it.  The cross/assist v Barnsley that nobody else would attempt (not allowed to?), the shot from distance tipped over in the same game that we never see from any other attacker, the early crosses to feet seen at Northampton (the one Jones missed) and last night the early, accurate ball in to Vic in the 1st half; these early crosses are skills we don't see from anyone else, they all take 7 touches to control the ball then play it as safe as possible.  So he does clearly have something, and we only need to look at his Bristol Rovers highlights to confirm that.  If he's off form/unhappy, that's another story.

Ogbeta had a good game imo. Taylor is a back up signing because of the injuries/suspensions we had and seems decent accusation.

Fuck knows on Ramsey ... is he better then Cogley?

Collins cost a lot, someone you'd expect to make a impact. Not seen it yet unfortunately.

Ramsey seems a bit puzzling, in that we are changing the LWB literally every game, and no doubt Williams will be back next week, but at right back we are flogging an out of form/average at best player whilst leaving a fresh new signing from Liverpool on the bench.  And if he's no better than Cogley, is he much of an upgrade on Matheson?  We had the chance to develop Matheson a bit with an odd appearance here and there even if just for 20 minutes against Cambridge etc, but we chose to uproot him to Ireland and develop another club's player instead.  Logical if he's a clear upgrade - if he doesn't play on Saturday he's just there for injuries, which Matheson could have done surely.

I’ll add Collins’ break and cross to Vic (from Coleman’s pinpoint early kick 👏) that he’s scored a couple of times this season in similar situations.

We didn’t create anywhere near enough chances relative to our possession, but to say we did nowt in front of goal absolutely isn’t the case.

I was convinced the Toal header near the end was going in 😟

Our wing backs are so important to our attack, I think Ogbeta has quality attacking wise and has shown he can create.

Cogley is nowhere near good enough in my opinion. It might be seen as harsh, but I feel if there's anywhere we need to be harsh and as good as possible, its our wing backs, due to the reason above.

Cogley is far too negative with the ball and isn't willing to beat a man. It's actually refreshing seeing Ogbeta do a step over and fire it into the box.

Eh? That's exactly what he said - "Not too dissimilar from the Man City game"

My counter point is that "was completely dissimilar from the Man City game".

I can't remember the last time I listened to an IE interview but if he said that...surely not?  This was more like a testimonial than a cut and thrust league game.  We passed, then passed, then passed a bit more, they backed off and let us get on with 17 cute balls and just waited for us to misplace the 18th.  Which of course they will, they are L1 players, if they could thread through intricate balls to a darting centre forward who buries it from 20 yards, they wouldn't be in L1.

Although even L1 players should be able to shoot from distance occasionally, only Toal seems to have that skill, its really poor, what has happened to that skill that I used to take for granted in the 80s and 90s watching the same level of football.

Nowt wrong with Cogley in the first few months

Yes there was, in fact I believe I made similar comments at the time, he's quick and can get into pockets of space well but once he's there is lacking ability wise to do anything about it.

Cogley was excellent the first half of the season.  Really good. He's had a dip in form lately but surely that's as a result of him barely getting a break.  He was starting in the EFL trophy games we were that short of cover at the time.

No I was responding to MickyD on p33 claiming it was like the city/speed game, and for some reason Cheese didn't understand and needed it clarifying.

Re: footballers not being able to shoot from distance as much, I've wondered if that's now because they're all such athletes. No real units who couldn't run but could cannon a shot.

He said it "wasn't too dissimilar", not that it was the same - i.e one side dominated, but still ended up losing.

Wasnt it much more exacting with McGinlay and Walker up front, with David Lee wide, beating men, and getting crosses in!
