Playing devil's advocate, but course it matters who the opposition are.  If it was Villa U21s would it be as good as Birmingham in the league?  I'm absolutely not playing down how great the comeback was, but it was one of 4 home games against teams that will be relegated.  (Coincidentally we came from behind in 2 of the other 3).

IE proved that who the opposition are is massively important, flat track bully and all that.

Not sure of the significance of Plymouth v Liverpool in this?  If you're using that comparison, I could say the team at the bottom of the championship didn't concede a goal against the Premier league champions elect, and we conceded 3 against a team about to be relegated to L2.  A pointless comparison.

Doesn't matter to me. You can only play what's in front of you.

There's no real significance of Plymouth V Liverpool - just the most recent example I'm aware of in which a massive underdog won a game of football.

i think we need to remember this

even last season, most weeks it was very flat

I thought the fans really got behind the team v Peterboro (because we were playing so well) and Blackpool (decent local derby atmosphere).  Fans arguably played a part in those late winners too.

Some good atmospheres last season for the bigger games - Pompey, Barnsley, Blackpool, Charlton (3-3) but only one of these resulted in a win.

4 home matches already this season we've scored a decisive goal after 89 minutes, we didn't get one last season here.  Not a clue if there's any significance in that, but its added some excitement.

Was charlton the one when half the ground was in full on meltdown with us top 2 in the league?

A back three and Cogs at LWB by the looks of it

Makes sense. I was baffled there.

Could it be a back 4 again with Thomason left of midfield and JDC right?

I think you’re right. But can fathom a few permutations from that.

Why does victor look like he's just come out the dentist?

Where is his wrist bandage. I assumed he slept with it on.

Mixed feelings here... we have too much to do in the League and this could be a distraction.

However... it is Parky and we need to keep that winning mentality.

I want to see us compete but maybe go out on pens?

In the first few games under a new manager, for me a winning mentality, confidence, momentum etc is critical. I 100% want a win. To do so away at a promotion rival is also a statement (even if there is some player rotation).

There’s only a max of 2 extra games in this if we win tonight, which doesn’t move the dial much, especially as other teams in the league have games in hand so also have midweek games ahead.

A lot of people have written off promotion (I haven’t), so why not try and win a cup and have a trip to Wembley.

Sky says 5-3-2

Poor JDC never gets a match off
