All depends how long it goes on and whether we can keep the pressure up whilst it does. With the goal difference we basically need to get 10 more points over the next 10 games And we have to beat them at theirs Not beyond the realms but still don't think we'll make it Will reassess in 6 games time before we play them Quote
Lostock Whites Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Win in the early kick off and Cardiff go into their game away at Exeter just 6 points ahead of us. We've still got to play them too. 10 games left but still nothing decided yet. We need to keep winning COYWM. Quote

freds dad Posted March 10 Posted March 10 If we don’t make the automatic places then we must finish 3rd or 4th. Quote

Johnnyrotten Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Cardiff need 21 points from 10 games to finish above us. Effectively 7 wins from 9 games as clearly we need to beat them in one of them. Or 6 wins and 3 draws. Realistically next time we fail to win on a day they win, its all done. Until then, make them sweat, even if they win at Exeter as long as we win at Rotherham they still have a lot to do. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Not sure if we can catch Cardiff, but I’ll be happy enough to make them sweat and carry some form in to the play offs McGoldrick missed an absolute bloody sitter first half btw Quote

jmjhb Posted March 10 Posted March 10 If we don't get 9 points over the next week and a half, it's all moot. Quote
Popular Post Rival Son Posted March 11 Popular Post Posted March 11 Two people have said we need to make up 9 points on Cardiff AND win at their place. If we win at their place, we only need to make up another 6 points (over 9 games). Goal difference will look after itself. The key thing is to keep improving and, ultimately, winning. It’s a tough ask … but but by no means impossible. Quote
desperado Posted March 11 Posted March 11 And I was told I was a happy clapper when I said a we could be talking like this (looking ahead at the faint possibility of second) if we put a decent run together 😂 Funny thing is, now that it looks more achievable than it did then, causes me to be more cautious and balanced. Let’s not kid ourselves, the moment Lincoln and Cardiff both win on a weekend and we don’t and that’s followed with a set of results were Bradford and Stockport better ours closer to the play-offs, there will be those in meltdown again. That’s being a BWFC fan I guess. Never lose that faint “what if?” hope, that could propel us to our dreams. Staying in the ground at 88 mins two down, watching Cardiff v Barnsley in the hope Cardiff falter, travelling 500 miles to Exeter to keep this great run going, booking your hotel on the 24th May, purchasing your season ticket thinking this would be a great deal for Championship football. I reckon even some of the in-game drama queen posters have let those thoughts drift into their mind…. Or maybe not 😂 Quote
L/H White Posted March 11 Posted March 11 just had a look and Lincoln were matched at 220/1 to win the league on Betfair Quote
bwfc4ife Posted March 11 Posted March 11 In all honesty, I love the optimism but I just can’t see it. The place could’ve been ours but we just haven’t been good enough across the whole season. Our away form is the problem and despite that win at Exeter, just can’t see us picking up maximum points away from home week in/week out for the next 10 games. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted March 11 Posted March 11 First job is to be certain of play offs sooner rather than later so I was as interested in the Reading and Stevenage results as Cardiff's. Hopefully we'll soon be where those in 7th have to win, say, all their last 6 to catch us. Cardiff giving us a little sniff is good though, will keep the hunger and focus going for at least another 4-5 games, keep performance levels up and competition for places Quote
Eddie Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) I have no expectation that we’ll get auto promotion. However, if we were all but done and then got 4 points in 4 games, including losing to our title rivals whilst 3rd place are [11?] unbeaten - we’d be just starting to look over our shoulder. If nothing else, it stops these last 10 games being exhibition matches and keeps us on our toes. Edited March 11 by Eddie Quote

I’m pretty sure Bradford will be thinking the same as regards catching Cardiff and will be expecting at least to finish ahead of us given that they have already played all the top teams (bar us twice) have a piss easy run in compared to ours, have a game in hand on us and we have to play Cardiff so at least one team won’t take 3 points from that game. On paper at least, Bradford have a more compelling case than us for making the automatics - although neither is a strong case, but…. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we kept our run going, Cardiff slip and our final game of the season came down to a winner takes all showdown against Bradford at home? Quote

We should have beaten Blackpool, Northampton, Reading and Mansfield at home and we would be level on points with Cardiff now. Saying that we dropped points away like you said. Nine points and getting a better goal difference is a lot to make up at this stage but you never know; got to win our next three Quote
