Schumacher has managed to balance out the squad he inherited from Ian Evatt in January but an injury to new signing Sam Dalby has left him significantly light on senior strikers.

Long-time target, Johnny Kenny is still on the wish list, but the Celtic man may yet sign a new contract before he is allowed to leave Parkhead on loan.

Other offers have also been made through sporting director, Fergal Harkin, though reports of Bolton’s interest in Preston North End’s Will Keane are thought to be wide of the mark.

Though the pressure to bring in new players is growing, with the Stockport County game now on the immediate horizon, Schumacher believes the club must keep its focus on getting the right deals done.

Has anybody even bothered at looking at all the content available on youtube of John Kenny

He is NOT a central forward. He likes to pick the ball out wide from around the half way line and run at defenders

Over 6 foot and very quick, plays either side two footed.....Looks like a upgrade on a Collins but i am not sure  we will know bring him in as we have the two wingers.........He is not a old fashioned 9

Stats eh!

First one I saw said 1.77m.

In other words, a touch under 5'10".

As for an upgrade on Collins, we won't know until we see him.

What we do know is that SS told Collins we weren't going to play the style to accommodate him, so it would seem a touch odd to bring in another like for like player.

Kenny has started pre season games and done well, whereas the new lad from Fulham hasn't started any.

Note of this means we won't be signing him of course.

It won’t make any difference whatsoever 😂

Could you imagine them saying no based on that as being one of the two most sectarian clubs in the world ha

This thread is making me wish more and more we had kept Evatt. No wild  speculation about formations and ways of playing, just what plan 2.A.1 might actually mean (5-3-2).

The players we were signing would also be easier to identify, light weight, socks down, technically OK, midfielder.

Simpler times and much less guff.

If Evatt turned up & personally transferred £½m in my bank account I'd still not wish we'd kept him.

he is 1.88 6ft two........you are either  winding me up, or just making shit up as you go

We was interested and put a bid in for Kenny before either winger came in.....He is a lot quicker and works harder than Collins but that is the type of player he is..........You must be looking at another John Kenny altogether [more than likely his dad] who played for Shamrock Rovers circ 1990 ffs

Here's a vid I found of him.

Looks handball to me.

The thing is that if the folk who watch the Wanderers every game (us) are left guessing who will play where and in what formation, there’s no chance the opposition will have all week to prepare for what we’re going to bring as used to be the case.

I like it.

I'm only basing my thoughts on things I see with my own eyes.

The way we've played and set up in pre-season, our recruitment etc.

It all lends itself to playing a 9 leading the line with a 10 in behind and two wide men.

I just don't see a world where we start with two proper out and out strikers up front. We might end up like that during games or when needs be like.

If he's after playing 2 strikers then McAtee and Randall may as well book a 3 month cruise across the Atlantic.

It's pretty well touted what his preference is.

You may well be right but if SS has intentions to bring in two more strikers, which he’s stated he is, then he isn’t going to just play one and leave the others on the bench, likewise the two wingers. As for McAtee and Randall, I’m not even sure they’ll both still be here beyond the window if he manages to get his targets. The fact is we can all speculate what format Schu will use but none of us actually know and that’s all I’m saying. All we can say with any degree of certainty is that it won’t be the boring sideways gash we faced last season. 😁

Best tell Celtic, as they think he's 5 foot 8 too.

What would they know though.

Seems that was three years ago  when he first turned 18     .......Must be a late developer, but today he is 6 feet two

What will he be tomorrow?

Those Connell rumours won’t go away…

whilst id hope / expect us to always be interested in the better players in this league if they were to become available, not sure an area where we already have 4 vying for 2 spots would be deemed a priority..

I’d say it’s more of a fans on Twitter wankfest yearning for Connell than us likely being linked.

As I say, would hope / expect us to be logging interest if he was available. Whether that translates to an offer is another matter. Sometimes people come up who you didn’t expect at a price you can now afford and all the recruitment planning and targets identified goes out the window
