Charles has scored 38 league goals in the last 3 seasons, May has scored 66 in the same period (the 60 mentioned above is too low if Wiki is right). Quote

Whitesince63 Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Great signing for Brum if it comes off and exactly the type we should be going after. This season is all about getting up not bringing young players on so we need to forget age and go for proven quality players who we know can deliver. Yes quality costs but if you want success you have to pay for it. Quote

Charles perhaps isn't quite as good a finisher as May. Horses for courses, and another situation where Evatt has picked the players he wanted to sign. Quote

Maybe it’s where we or more he goes wrong. Doyle signing was still the most mental in terms of signing a poacher and turning him into a midfielder. I think in years to come his 19 goals that season will look bloody impressive Edited June 29, 2024 by tomski Quote

Deanu Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Yeah, Doyle did very well to get 19 goals with all the overcomplicated BS of the likes of Greenidge/Delaney/Brockbank being told to play like Akanji/Gvardiol/Ake, at the start Doyle was drifting to RWB/LWB/CM everywhere through frustration of having no supply to him & obviously all the pressure on him being the marquee signing. Playing up front in Evatt's system for L2/L1 football is a lot more overcomplicated then it should be, Dion/Vic with all their energy being used specifically for defending from the front & not knowing when we'll eventually progress the ball up to them so I think they do a good job. Clarke-Harris & Alfie May two of the best goal-scorers in the league of the last few years but they'd be bored shitless & lose interest fast playing up top for us. Quote

Weren’t twelve of Doylers goals penalties though, much like Dions? Quote

You can sign (I think) up to 4 without needing a work permit. If they fail a work permit you can allocate them an ESC place in the squad. You have to play them though. Bolton fell to the same fate as Peterborough as they were also defeated in the playoff semi-finals, and will look to weaken their rivals with a move for Randall. Based on that I'll take the rumour with a huge pinch of salt Edited June 30, 2024 by DirtySanchez Quote
