Massive train strike, no fucker would notice any difference if there was no trains for 3 days. Pricks.

What is it that either side wants?

Ive read on the BBC but it doesn’t go into details apart from official side want redundancies and reform and the staff side want pay deals.

The main issue on the trains is that the cuts would mean no guards.

Wouldn't want my family on a train without one of those.

I'm not a fan of strikes, but they do have a point here.

Labour's fault probably

Nor is it safe for the driver to be the only member of staff on board.

A couple of my mates drive trains and they're concerned about being isolated.
If we go to guard-less trains, the chances are there'll be no night services after about 9pm.

Bloke from the union on the radio says the rail companies re structure of costs basically amounts to fire and re hire on worse terms and conditions as well as reducing numbers after rail workers worked the pandemic and no pay rise for years etc etc

rail companies blame the fall in passengers due to the pandemic for needing to do this.
Union say it’s to maintain the profits of the companies from the current numbers by paying everyone less.

he’d obviously have a slant and I’ve no idea , but if the rail want to do that as he he described then no wonder they’re pissed off .
never a fan of strikes but even the threat of it has brought it to peoples attention and on the table .

Got to be said, they've not cut back on revenue protection officers, cunts are everywhere.

Are they cunts for working to help catch those who jib onto trains without paying? I’d say the cunts are those ensuring revenue protection is required.

Indeed. Media is putting it out that drivers are already well paid when they are not the ones involved. Boris, for his part threw in some bollocks during PMQs about how much they have invested in public transport totally missing the point as per.

do the train companies make money?

not for one minute suggesting they shouldn't, but i dont know

According to the union mon they do.

Also according to him the bosses have had good rises. If true, then in fairness they may have a point.

On the other hand, given they were kept afloat during covid, maybe there is some responsibility on them to look at the whole picture.

One thing for sure- train use is down, so for them to remain profitable some job losses would seem inevitable, especially if wages were to rise.
