Highlighting that the system you’re accused of exploiting was truly corrupt not exactly a great defence.

Probably well aware she's no defence so is taking down as many fuckers as she can with her. Whilst her case is a decent amount of dosh there's still a few billion quid allegedly handed out in dodgy deals. She possibly feels hung out to dry whilst the rest of them skulk away untouched.

I think (although not sure) difference with Mone is that her PPE wasnt fit for use.

She disputes this btw but she would say that wouldn't she.

Then let Labour pick up the mess

They might as well pick one up because they have unerringly produced one.

For example, you can thank Tony Blair for the existence of ISIS. The lying sack of shit.

It's the "you should see the state of our Wes" defence.

I wonder if we'll be looking to appointed another new Home Secretary in the next few days....

James Cleverly, what a dick.

And before the usual comes in with his whataboutry. I don't think he should be sacked, but he certainly should know better

It was said as a joke behind closed doors and someone went blabbing to the press.

He probably regrets saying it - but IMO the person who leaked it should be the person getting the flak. It was a joke. A shit joke no doubt but a joke all the same.

I agree, but his behind closed doors meeting was actually with "Politcal Journalists". If he didn't think one of them would leap on it, then he's been a bit daft. I'm not sure if Labour have had much to say about it, but I'm sure they will.

I'm 100% sure it was said as an "off the record" joke, but I'm not sure that "off the record" exists anymore

From what I've read - the meeting the journalist was invited to has traditionally been seen as off the record. But this person was so outraged that they felt compelled to publish the conversation.

I've heard the Labour responses which is as you'd imagine 'its a disgrace, shameful etc'.

Probably a bit naive given his position but anything you say in jest can get blown out of proportion nowadays.

Its like when Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth slagged off Corbyn in a conversation that he thought was off record

I've got a feeling that wasn't a joke though! 😁

The sort of joke you'd make with mates not with work aquaintances. That's where JC (not the one who's birthday is tomorrow) has come a cropper.

Fair enough. I don't really think it matters particularly if it's said between four walls but I take your point.

Have you considered a ministerial position yourself? 😁

I've been relatively impressed with James Cleverly as a politician so I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Only relatively impressed mind. He's not had much competition.

In any other government, what Cleverly has done wouldn’t even make the news.

But 13 years of vomit, and you’re going to be analysed at every step.

He’s done nothing wrong, except be a Tory in this instance.
