Bertie Posted May 2, 2025 Posted May 2, 2025 (edited) These results are not a flash in the pan. Reform are now serious player whether people like it or not. Two strong elections in 2 years. No one should be critical of or patronise the folk who are voting for them. These are not just a few extremists, it’s 1000s of normal folk who have had enough. The Tories are now in the wilderness, and the perception of Labour is that (so far) nothing has changed / got better. Why should these results be a surprise? I can easily see Reform being the next majority government. They’ve got the single biggest advantage of not having a past. They’ve not screwed up before so they’ve a clean slate in the eyes of the electorate wanting change. The don’t need a manifesto. The worse thing the other parties can do is to continue to be complacent and assume folk will vote differently “when it matters”. Now, do I want Farage as PM? No. Will he be? Probably. How can this be prevented? Labour need to deliver in the next 4 years, esp on “stopping the boats” and improving public services…..and be seen to deliver on these. We have been warned. To be fair, they are trying to improve public services and the NHS is very slowly getting better. The h Whole stopping the boats thing is impossible to solve imo. Well, until we all collectively agree to fuck off the agreed norms. That includes us and the rest of Europe. Quote

Even Mrs D who is staunch Labour voted for her. She was the only door stepper in the build up spending every weekend doing the rounds. Result not called yet although the Council has gone massively Reform. I fear for her as it will be a sad loss if she doesn't get through My girl Charlotte has managed to stay on... massive Reform slide, Cons only got one third of previous 2021 vote and Labour half. Thankfully we have retained a bloody good Councillor despite the protest voting Quote

Yeah I think that is what won them the election. I don't get your emoji, I have voted blue more than any other party but Boris fucked it completely with Brexit, his appalling disregard for the HoC and they deserve the shit they are in. I voted red last time because they are actually closer to a proper conservative ideology than the Tories became and still are. Reform are led by the worst kind of populist wankers who just divide us, that isn't in the countries interest at all or in any way. Quote

Yes, bullshitting and propagandising their way to power so they can destroy the working class that elect them "is working". Marvellous stuff. Edited May 2, 2025 by Cheese Quote

Are you talking about labour with their anti-semites? Or the independents in Burnley with their sectarian beliefs? Your post is ignorant, dismissive and precisely the reason why a new party is succeeding. Huge swathes of the former red wall have reacted to such accusations once and have done so again. Well done on keeping up the blind rhetoric, and ensuring the red (and blue) groups disappear down the gurgler. Yet it's everyone else who is thick. 🤔 Quote
