I've noticed down the years it was always poor housing what got the brunt of house fires, I would never have a chip pan near my house after seeing some of the danger it wracked through a home. MickyD Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I used to post a video of a Christmas tree setting on fire and engulfing the whole room within about 30 seconds. I wouldn’t have a real tree in my house. One of the worst fires I ever attended was Boxing Day morning. Mum and baby still in bed, two kids downstairs watching telly and dad nipped out for a paper. One fairy light short circuit later and the two lads burned to death. Mum and baby were rescued and dad walked round corner to see three fire engines outside his house. No idea what this has to do wit’ virus though. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 (edited) I as a teenager used to love buying a half with my last money and walking home instead of chippy and taxi - then make real chips in a chip pan - I only passed out about 50% of the time. Result - burnt chips and just bread and butter when I woke up. Edited December 20, 2020 by Youri McAnespie Quote

Worked in a street shortly after and a tragic fire had happened on the street, just off the road to Fairfield Hospital Quote
MickyD Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Christmas Day 84 at Massey Street. 4 kids amongst the 9 killed. It was before my time by 18months. Quote
Cheese Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 How can all these individual EU countries be allowed to shut their borders to Brits? Their EU membership means they don't have any sovereignty, so surely it shouldn't be possible? Quote

Thankfully we pretty much all have low voltage LED lights, much less risk than the shite we used to happily hang on our plastic or real trees Quote

gonzo Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 So if this new strain is weak as piss why is everybody in a blind panic? Thought the big deal was to stop hospitals getting overloaded? Quote

(September anyway) I think the government might have overplayed the ‘new strain’ talk in order to save face over cancelling Xmas (after being so bold at PMQ’s 48 hours earlier! Spider Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Boris looked like a haunted potato at that last press conference. I’m expecting him to quit fairly soon. Throw his hands in the air, say “well I’ve had it and I’ve got pots of cash so fuck you, see if I care. Gove, you’re up” Quote
