Traf
I still maintain that he only way of "protecting the integrity" of the competition is to complete it. And if it means a knock on effect on the next couple of seasons, so be it. Any settlement by non-completion will be deemed unfair by more clubs than think it's acceptable. I think leagues that have jumped the gun and cancelled have been too hasty. I've yet to see one non-completion proposal that makes as much sense as waiting this thing out, completing the season and then formulating a timetable towards a return to normality. The gulf in money between EFL & the PL is staggering and some clubs have gambled heavily to get up. QPR are 13th and only 6 pts off the playoffs with 9 games to go. So there's 13 tam clubs who'd no doubt want to make a legal challenge to any ruling.
radcliffe white
This season is never canned imo they obviously want it completed in some way too many complexities to void it things are starting to move players going back to training at some clubs and in the next couple of weeks lockdown will be eased how they do it and what implications for next season fuck knows

All this closed door stuff might be OK when the clubs get so much TV money but League 1 and 2 clubs will all go bust if they continue paying players

Members Rudy
Behind closed doors is what they’re potentially looking at. On a match day I count all necessary staff and workers in and around the ground being about 210 people and I don’t know exact numbers for tv crews Been told to report into work tomorrow to discuss training resuming. Gonna be interesting.

I've yet to see one non-completion proposal that makes as much sense as waiting this thing out, completing the season and then formulating a timetable towards a return to normality. I've got no problem with the season being completed as and when it can, but I'd add the caveat that it should completed as close to normal as possible. There was a suggestion from the PL yesterday that the number of substitutions will be extended to five to allow players to cope with a congested match calendar. So that's matches behind closed doors (I'll concede that's probably unavoidable), five substitutions per team, and matches played every few days to squeeze them in. And that's before we factor in players and staff possibly having to self-isolate. The integrity of the competition can only be stretched so far. You’re at nearly 50 with just the players Coaches/fitness/medical teams 50 TV and rigging staff I’d guess at around 40 for a sky televised game Media 20 Necessary stadium staff is a decent amount even in an empty stadium but bare essentials It’ll have to be like a military operation. Then do you have to test everyone in the stadium beforehand? Sky will want it to get their moneys worth. PL will want it because of money and legal issues. Edervisie doesn’t count but if a major European league shuts up shop that’ll be it. They seem to have glossed over letting the Madrid Liverpool game go ahead. They need to be careful. birch-chorley
One things for sure, it’s going to be a dire spectacle Empty grounds, loads of substitutions, nothing to play for in most cases (especially if relegation is scrapped) Be like a pre season friendly tournament

Johnnyrotten
And the difference with going to Cheltenham and going to a football match is the mingling and proximity. Absolutely packed at Cheltenham, everyone walking around constantly, brushing past people, going to different parts of the ground for various things. If we're talking "risk factor", going to a match is low in my mind, if its all seater. You walk to the turnstyle, walk to your seat (I accept there's an element of congestion in the concourse/toilets etc), then sit in your seat for 2 hours. You might be in danger of infecting the people sat immediately around you but that's all (I'm not playing that down, just comparing to other situations). At a busy supermarket you'll probably come into closer contact with more people. But we wont be going to a match until there's a vaccine, no chance.
