Don’t get me wrong I would love it. But what grounds does anyone have for anything?

if the season is null and void that means it legally won’t have happened as such we will have our deduction applied in the next season which is next year. I will dig out the efl rules on insolvency events . It’s pretty clear.

Surely FV can say their model was 1 season on minus points for budgeting etc

this surely will be a big £££ to the plan going forward

Just read them. Best chance we’ve got is there is a force majeure clause in there.

Well that's sorted then

We aren't starting on 12 no matter what for me

But it wouldn’t be giving it twice in a row as under null and void it never happened first time.

I would just rather be relegated. It’s the right thing to do and we start again no points deduction and we start our climb back and have a promotion run next year

For me it would as this is a separate season. It could be argued either way though I suppose.

I agree if it means that much to the rest of L1 just relegate us and we’d be a year ahead on our hopeful recovery because unless we have some miracle what we have couldn’t turn 12 points around.

Suggestions of ppg ing it are pie in the sky imo

If ive played liverpool twice, while fred at the side of me has played norwich twice, how can ppg be fair

That's the same reasoning for me why the season being completed behind closed doors at a neutral ground also doesn't work.

Im with you.

Thats a very good point

Its not a fcuking phone call thing

Somewhere, the penalty will be in writing

And it aint saying 'next season'

Now, obvs, force majeure cards can be played, but as it stands we are into the embargo and we have served the -12

It says the following season not next. And following can’t be this if it isn’t competed. That’s my take on it anyway.

But I’m no lawyer and I don’t have the requisite WW “6 years business experience” to be deemed an expert sadly

and also I believe the PL gets completed so that won’t apply and we haven’t played Liverpool 😁

Does anyone else think it amazing that in a multi million dollar business contingencies were not already written into to the terms of the league?

So PPG, or positions after X games, are all know before the season commences. Then we wouldn't have all this bollocks as everyone would have signed up to it.

Who manages this risk?? Clearly no one but is hardly that surprising we got a global pandemic at soem stage!!

What so we all believed we would have a global pandemic affecting us and causing life as we know to stop it? I just have missed that memo as I never thought I would ever see anything such as this in my lifetime

Yes! We have had enough sighters.

for me, we got handed -12 because we went into admin

and we started the season in admin

we're not in admin anymore, we've satisfied all we had to do with the EFL to be able to crack on

so now we crack on

If it didn't affect us this would be a fascinating one to sit back, open the popcorn and watch the legal-eagles thrash it out.

The rules as posted say "following season". The season existed. It was curtailed, but it started and existed. It will still be recorded in record books even if there's a fucking big asterisk against it.

But I get the other point as well.

To be honest they should just start us on 0. If other clubs complain then:

(a) fuck 'em

(b) they are unlikely to complain too much as they'll have more pressing things to worry about. If we were in their shoes I'd be wanting our people to be working on how we stay alive  and financially viable, rather than sniping at other teams.

(c) fuck 'em

EFL L1 & L2 have requested a salary cap for next season, 37 of the 47 clubs want it in place.

I wonder which the 10 clubs are not in agreement ?

We’ve not officially agreed but would be in favour.

See, even salary caps pose problems.

Why should, say, Sunderland, be restricted to the same salaries as Accy?

Their turnover is miles more, so they should be allowed to invest more in salaries.

Out of interest did you buy shares in PPE and ventilator companies and are currently in lockdown on your privately owned island ?

Ha, wish I had,  but then thats why I am not managing risk in a multi million pound business.

And while a global pandemic is clearly unusual, it is a known risk. And a season could potentially be curtailed for numerous other reason too, war, terrorism, strikes???

So I stand by my assertion that it is odd that nothing is already stipulated on how the season would be determined if it had to be stopped early due to unforeseen circumstances; is that really so outrageous??

They wouldn’t necessarily be restricted to the same salaries, more the same percentage of their turnover. Trouble is, they need to put it within reach where teams can build a side capable of staying in the Championship if they went up, and in doing so will mean it doesn’t work as intended for the smaller clubs. The trials and tribulations (and lack of success in prevent financial trouble) of the long-standing salary cap in rugby league would suggest it is a waste of time, really.

Wimbledon and The Open have insurance against pandemics so your point is valid.

Turnover don’t matter, for example likes of Burton probably more profitable than Sunderland. Wage cap should be same for every team regardless.

...which in turn would make Sunderland vastly more profitable than Burton and therefore have an argument to raise the limit, surely?

If said limit was to be set to the Burton’s of this world, then the promoted League One sides would have a much weaker squad than the bottom side in the Championship, leaving us forever in a cycle of yo-yo clubs.

As I said in an earlier post, the pro’s and con’s of a salary cap, particularly when bearing in mind the differences in finances between the Championship and League One, has already been played out in various forms in rugby league for the last 20-odd years.

Sunderland need to get their house in order, stop losing money, a wage cap helps them do that, then they’ll naturally rise out of league 1 and to their rightful place.

Cmon Pl & EFL Yknow it makes sense

Can you imagine the justice for Liverpool furore if that happened here. I see they are already crying about Madrid game bringing the virus to Liverpool, no doubt they’ll want that replaying.

It would make this lockdown worthwhile in a way if it did happen. Would be unbelievably good.

couldn’t happen to a better set of Cunts
