I was thinking more along the lines of Hamas hadn't been firing rockets to start this latest escalation

They did it with paragliders and close combat

Israel may have degraded the ability of Hamas to fire continuous rocket attacks

But that wasn't happening before October 8th as far as I'm aware and if it was, they have the dome

So I doubt it was an objective of this latest round of fighting

For what it's worth, Hamas has constantly and consistently fired rockets into Israel, both before and after 7th October

For what it's worth, Israel have been constantly and consistently bulldozing Palestinian houses, destroying Palestinian farms and infrastructure, forcing Palestinians to leave their own land, and murdering Palestinian civilians on a daily basis for the last 50-odd years.

genuine question, have they done much damage? what degree of protection does the iron dome offer?

I just don't think you can look at the last 5 months and think "well, at least they can't fire any more rockets" as a positive outcome, but I don't know how much of an issue it was for them with them hitting targets or killing people

obviously you don't want any rockets fired or any casualties, I just doubt it was a primary objective to stop that happening on this occasion

We can't know for certain - there are claims and counter-claims - but it'll be a significant majority

@Tonge moor green jacket

I take it all back that it might not have been a major issue

According to this they fire loads, they haven't killed that many over the years but plenty damage and injuries

Just make sure that you completely eliminate them.

Buys a 10-20 year hiatus to sort things out with primitive savage nutjobs with a penchant for indiscriminately murdering and disembowelling innocents not having enough time to renew their inhuman activities at anything like the level they did on 7th October.

Cue the usual muppet parade about Israel's indiscretions (all basically offensive to be defensive).

I'm still really confused as to why the right wing members of this forum have little or no objective balance when it comes to Israel and do like to close down any discussion.

Really confused.

Said similar at the start of this thread , when you consider Israel’s role in the terrorist murders of British soldiers to establish control in the state,  the unwavering support is quite surprising.

Im sorry, anybody claiming, as you repeatedly do, that all this started in October is best ignored

Its like saying bwfcs problems started when we appointed Parkinson

Im not claiming that it all started in October, I’m claiming the current escalation started then and it was caused by the Hamas attack it’s not really that difficult to discern.

Again, it didn’t.

Israeli settlers were bulldozing homes & attacking Palestinians the day before Hamas committed their atrocities.

Sorry, but if you've based your whole assessment of the situation on these grossly erroneous beliefs then you're way off the mark.

All media channels have regularly detailed events, including rocket attacks, for years.

The terrorist event, and immediately after included the firing of 10,000 rockets.

Why the fuckery should any nation have to have a permanent system in place to accommodate such intrusion?

In short, it was absolutely the aim of the war- the remove the capability of the Hamas fighters to conduct such activities, and eliminate the fighters themselves.

Going for a walk now but a question.

Why did a bunch of flag waving, lefty, Palestinian supporters think it was a good idea to harass, mainly pensioners, at the entrance to Barclays Bank in Bolton town centre yesterday?

If we are going beyond the 7th October to explain or ‘take sides’, could someone set a date. To the nearest century.

That's the thing, it just goes back so far. It's a shame that people feel the need to "pick" a side and then stick to it. From my limited knowledge, neither side seem too palatable.

Did they get to the counter and only then get their purse out?

As @bolty58would say, water cannons and cattle prods, that's what is required for such occasions.

I think the point is, if you don't take into account the modern historic content and start taking sides you end up looking a bit myopic with a fairly complex issue.

That made me chuckle.

Anyway I thought Bolton Town centre was deserted nowadays. I wonder if these protest bring a much needed economic boost to the town, I mean they've got to have lunch.
