What is the crack with isolating, from the day you have symptoms to the day you provide a negative test?

If your test comes back positive you can on the 6th and 7th day from symptoms take a LFT and if they come back negative you're free to do as you please.

One chap on this morning. Can't remember where from, not precisely what he was referring to, but he was saying that the increase in cases in his "bit" was levelling off.

Clearly another week or two of absenteeism for industry and the nhs, but hopefully, it will start to tail off then.

Return of the schools may play a part too. Apparently, 60% of school age kids (over 12) have had the jab.

Need to get that up.

Help me with this.

Why are we jabbing kids?

The jabs don’t seem to check infection rates and kids don’t get sick.

Kids do get sick though and the vaccines do provide some protection. Not massive, but a help nonetheless.

For a small number of children, immediate post viral issues and longer term syndromes do occur. I have a niece who was quite badly affected in the early stages of the pandemic. Dizziness, breathing difficulties amongst other things. Strangely, these disappeared once she was vaccinated!

I'm not sure how much information is available specifically on infection rates amongst kids that are and are not vaccinated. Information for the whole shows a fairly strong benefit in terms of reduced infection of others. Study information will be out there for perusal.

Anything that helps reduce continuous infection of others, is worthwhile. Especially if it reduces time lost studying, or reduced risk of infecting grandma.

We are behind many other countries on vaccinating kids, and have taken time over it.

The mhra initially has to authorise the drug's use, and then the jcvi decide which groups etc. They only make a clinical decision though, and by their own admission do not consider educational requirements when making their decisions.

Given the widespread vaccination of kids worldwide, I'm happy that it's of benefit to society.

Listen to this, it is being repeated up and down the country, the missus being one of them. They are totally exhausted, and mistakes are inevitable by doctors and nurses totally frazzled.

Not great for sure.

Hopefully this will be a sharp spike, and numbers drop off quickly. Something like South Africa.

Didn't they say tonight that they'd expect it to worsen a bit more before coming down?

Some kids do get quite ill, maybe/hopefully not from omicron though.

It is a simple case of transmission reduction. The missus has had it over Christmas and new year yet so far no signs we have it. Both my lad (2nd) and me (3rd) were jabbed pretty recently and we have tested negative every day.

Hopefully this is showing signs of massively burning itself out. 🤞

Think you're being harsh there, they're easy enough to do, it's just a question of how far you push it down your ear that I think might be the issue

Don't know about  that, I nearly had my eye out.

Because we love them?

She's right - I hear this story every single day. Most people are just living in blissful ignorance of what is going on for people behind closed doors. It's appalling.

We've got where we are because nurses have always been too afraid of public opinion to take industrial action. I think the camel's back might have been well and truly broken post COVID.

Just a few less customers so stuck in a domestic bunfight…
