I certainly did. But I had overestimated IE's ability to sign the right type of players. We lost JDB and Jerome so anyone with half a brain would surely say the priority was someone with a little bit of strength and/or heading ability and/or someone that would be described as a centre forward on their CV. But no, IE knew better and we got Collins mark 2; then in Jan when he had the opportunity to right the wrong, he chose to sign a midfield version of the pair of them for another huge fee (despite knowing Morley was coming back) and one of the worst players any of us have seen from Cardiff. It beggars belief. And some on here reacted to any criticism of IE with "show us your coaching badges" type comments. Even professional managers get it wrong occasionally, and in IEs case very wrong for a prolonged period of time.3 likes

Never thought I'd say it, but I'd rather have that fucking mingebag Madine playing up front than McAtee.2 likes

As well as losing JDB and Jerome without adequate replacement, he also compounded it by shipping off our main striker in January without getting a proper striker.2 likes

God we've missed him. Connor Bradley the season before. Fossey/Kieron Lee before that. The recruitment in the past two windows amounts to gross misconduct.2 likes

Not done nothing, clearly. In his credit, when a presentable chance is put before him he can certainly finish them very well. Otherwise, apart from a little purple patch from half time at Shrewsbury to, in common with the rest, a really good night v Brum, there have been way too many days / nights like yesterday. The issue with him, as with a good number of our others, and as SS alluded to on Friday night, is that he might doing what he sees as trying, within the compass of what he's good at, but it's not enough and hasn't been enough on far too many occasions.2 likes

Strange with McAtee that he's considered to have done "nothing", but he's also scored some of the better goals this season. I'm not having a dig at Vic here but in comparison could Vic have scored any of those that McAtee scored at Crawley, Northampton, Stevenage, Rotherham, Bristol, 2 at Shrewsbury, home v Mansfield, Cambridge, Orient and Brum (those last 2 were 2 of the better moments of this season)? Of course not. I'm as critical of him as anyone on his bad days like yesterday, but anyone saying he's done nothing or he's the worst striker we've had is frankly not paying attention. And its also nonsense to say he doesn't try, just because he runs funny and throws his arms up, does that mean he's not committed? He looks committed to me, just lacking in a lot of areas eg heading, passing, shooting and dribbling! But we've got and have had far worse in our squad, its not his fault IE paid well over the odds.2 likes

Aquabats are playing Slam Dunk festival this year properly looking forward to it. Phineas & Ferb is excellent but given both Richard O'Brien and Bowling for Soup's involvement it's to be expected1 like

It's been our Achilles heel for a long while, and my niggle about Collins and McAtee, their returns look ok but a chunk of their goals are of limited importance, in the Vertu cup, consolations when we're three down or filling their boots when we're three up and opponents are on the floor. Top strikers find the net when it's needed to save a point or win a game, in tight games with few chances. The really big, crucial goals our two have scored this season have been few and far between. Between August and Xmas they scored only one winning goal between them (Collins v Blackpool). Collins scored a couple of key goals in Jan and Feb (equaliser at Exeter, winner at Huddersfield), then McAtee had his little purple patch from half time at Shrewsbury (winner + 1 there, opener v Orient, equaliser v Brum), since then, a real fade out, only one goal of any consequence, Collins winner v Bristol R. There have, to be fair, been a few opening goals in games we've gone onto win but the winners and match savers don't run into double figures.1 like

We'd score a hell of a lot more if we had any cunt at the top of the pitch who could keep hold of the ball.1 like

For me it's a fair bit of it being coached into them to death but also what their individual DNA is, as they were specifically recruited to do certain things a certain way. Evatt didn't turn any hod carriers into artists.1 like

There's more to being weak minded than lack of tough tackling and defensive mistakes. It's being brave on the ball, running and driving at defences instead of taking the safe option. Forwards marking themselves out of the game instead of taking a chance to find the space. Nobody is brave. They've had any kind of creativity drilled out of them and now it's just become their instinct to play it safe. We don't run and battle and we don't impose ourselves in any way other than mountains of possession.1 like

Iām honestly starting to think Donald Trump may not be the world peacemaker he told us he was. In fact, the more you look for his achievements, the more difficult it is to see if anything he says heāll do actually happens. Still, George Clooney must be gurning with rage into his nespresso, which is really all that matters.1 like

Great post. Donāt get me wrong, like you, I often get frustrated with our players for lack of output and poor games, like McAtee Friday. I think Friday the frustrations were more my doing than his. Tutu in that first 10/15 looked lively. His pace and trickery looked like it could cause problems for Wycombe. As soon as McAtee replaced him, in my mind it was game over. Never once did he beat the full back and create something. He more often came back inside and on the odd occasion he did try, he became frustrated and then we see the arm throwing. But if the opposite happens itās even worse! If he keeps trying to take his man on and loses the ball more, thatās counterproductive. And if his reaction when things go wrong is to drop his shoulders and sulk then we do have an attitude problem. I tend to forget in the heat of the moment that Iām a 50 odd year old bloke and these are 20 odd year old fellas playing third tier football. Yes bad attitudes and lack of commitment can very much exist, Iāve got one this age š But Iām not having it that him having short socks and waving his hands about is a sign he doesnāt care or has a bad attitude. His acknowledgment with the young lad at Barnsley shows far more about his character and attitude in a positive way. Just like a few of our players, he was overpaid for and is too similar to others we have in the squad. This and him replacing our fastest winger on Friday is not his fault.1 like

I have loads of time for him. I understand fully what he's saying. The overt stance of Trump and his henchmen is terrible. I do think something different is happening behinds the scenes though. I do reckon it could have been achieved without the disgraceful behaviour of the president towards Zelenskyy; nevertheless if something positive does arise, and peace is achieved, then great.1 like

Collins is a superb talent. He's not on the pitch to be running and battling. He's meant to have support up there doing all that shit for him. He spends most weeks completely isolated having to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Stick him with a proper number 9 he will be sound.1 like

If he hadn't that would be more ammo for you though. Other players failed to fill their boots against kids. He is the leading league scorer. Clearly he has weaknesses-they all do- but it seems that you will always seek a negative rather than a balanced view. Our main weakness is and has been defensively. More steel in the side, and faster play, to suit his movement and he'll be perfectly fine for us at this level.1 like

Heās right up there in the pissing me off stakes (as @ianofcleveleys nicely defines it), donāt get me wrong. In fact, heās as bad as McAtee. My point was more that in the back of my mind I know that Collins can be brilliant at this level and can be the difference. Iāve seen nothing from McAtee that suggests thatās the case, itās just people hoping at the moment.1 like

Don't piss on their parade mate. Let them enjoy themselves. He will be glowing with self satisfaction at managing to slip another 'r' word in. Two more points in the virtue signalling league.1 like

If we have to have one - GT. Only player to have vaguely shown he might actually have a pair of bollocks. The rest can get to fuck and when they get there, fuck off a bit more.1 like

McAtee was well ahead of Collins in the pissing me off stakes till yesterday, then Collins closed the gap a fair bit, then McAtee pulled away again second half. They've both fannied and flat track bullied their way through the season, falling down, arm waving, pointing, jumping downwards, the whole gamut. If one of them could do something worthwhile next season in the right set-up it'd be Collins for me, though only by a short head1 like

NSL can be a bit rough & ready, & like everywhere else you'll get the odd " geddit forward" gobbin, but i've never seen or heard it getting anywhere close to punches flying, it's mostly good humoured.... but, away matches , especially reasonably close ones , are becoming a problem with the certainty that a goal conceded will set some loudmouths off screaming abuse, booing & scapegoating players with every chance of a reaction from supporters, & off we go again with the infighting. I've stopped going to Wiggin, not so much because of over excited yoofs but older blokes gobbing off stupidly, & just last week at Barnsley, apart from the horrors of the game, it was a really unpleasant atmosphere on the edge of kicking off properly.1 like

I'd love it if Wycombe piped Wrexham to 2nd place, they will surely come straight back down. Then Wrexham miss out in the play offs. I think all the hype will then quickly disappear.1 like

He was bang on when he said that to do well in this league you need pace and physicality and we have neither. By design! Because we had people who thought they knew better. It beggars belief what a fuck up Evatt, Sharon and the rest of the set up have made of this squad.1 like
