  1. Not sure anyone is saying these things are not happening but the anger and reaction is whipped and multiplied by social media. Take Southport as the prime example, everyone knows it was horrific. But the riots that followed were driven by rhetoric and lies on social media. The vast majority of people do not get involved but those that do see reminders every few seconds about how angry they should be and how the infamous MSM are covering everything up. There are some people who still think he was a recently arrived immigrant. More recently the Southampton case, yesterday lads were sent to prison for rioting. The responses initially from bots but then from actual people tell us all that it is two tier policing. When the two brothers from Manchester Airport got off totally free. One bloke put a link to an article that proved they were released. The article actually said one of them gave evidence in the second trial from prison FFS ! I left Twitter because it is horrible, it gives people with nothing to say somewhere to shout about stuff. At first I tried to use it to understand other people’s views, but a couple of clicks later and my feed became a torrent of hate and conspiracy theories. People like Tommy are making a fortune from it, Farage uses it to light the blue touch paper , keeps his words just the right side of legal and lets the bots and his followers do the rest. Those of us who grew up in the 70s will remember National Front marches and everything that came with them. But now you have 000s of accounts supporting similar views with zero control. It not just politics, look at Andrew Tate and the Manosphere. You are right the problems exist but does the fact net migration is down significantly and small boat numbers are down get the same coverage ? Especially if news is being fed by social media since you have ‘realised’ that MSM is so unreliable ? The fact all other media is controlled by billionaires pushing their own agenda is just ignored. People are being controlled like never before and it ain’t Governments that are doing it.

I don't think back up striker is a genuine thing, if they are in the 1st team squad they tend to get rotated - due to loss of form, injuries, mixing it up when losing etc. Very different to defenders where GJ played every minute he was available, and Toal not much further behind, then Forino once established. They don't just get rotated and substituted like midfielders and forwards. For me, our strikers are absolutely crucial, and we can't afford to carry any. Dalby isn't going to play 90 minutes every week (there will be games he can't get a kick for half an hour), we simply need something better than Burstow. The way Sidebe caused us constant problems with pace and direct running and power and finishing ability (both games), shows the difference a genuine striker can make (a year earlier it was Olaofe doing the same). I'm not saying sign them for the championship, but we need better than Burstow, simple as that.
  3. I keep stuff like whipped up narrative, algorithms and social media brainwashing folk in to thinking certain ways and vote for people. It's as if these incidents aren't actually happening. It's as if there hasn't actually been Aslyum seekers trying to behead folk in the street or rafts of sexual assault and rape cases by men and boys from Afghanistan all over the country. It's as if what the seems old news of Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs across the county haven't happened and this Nowark kid wasn't left to die in handcuffs after being stabbed by a man that was allowed to wander round with a ceremonial machete. It's as if there isn't boats upon boat load of migrants being housed all over the country in HMOs, Hotels and housing schemes putting yet more strain on services. You don't need algorithms and Tommy Robinson twitter accounts or GB News to see that these problems are happening in every day life. Of course your Reforms and Restores will jump all over anything but that's how politicians work. They wouldn't exist if the problems weren't allowed to sprial out of control by our two main parties over decades anyway.
  4. That’s a disgrace and it just shows the abysmal standards of many of today’s owners and how lucky we are. FV may not have the deepest pockets but at least treat people respectfully. I just can’t understand any sensible owner sacking a genuinely well acknowledged and experienced manager and replacing him with an untried, inexperienced foreigner who knows nothing about our game and especially how difficult and competitive the championship is. I can only wish the Wanderers 2 a dreadful and unsuccessful season.
  5. Two tier tweeting.

If people actually listened to what was being said by Fergal and the club, that would help as well. This phase of our transfer activity is about picking up the out of contract players that are on the market e.g. Davies and Wilson. Then we move on to negotiating for players who command a fee and then signing loan platyers. That's not to say all that happens in a linear fashion/sequentially, but that's the broad timing. On fee transfers most managers, etc are on holiday including ours presumably. Hundreds of players are also at the World cup and probably every agent, the rest are on holiday. Most teams want to keep players available for loan through pre season just in case they don't get their main targets. We all need to be patient, even though it's frustrating. But let's keep gossiping about it otherwise we will all get bored 😄.

I agree, I've already seen 'rumours' of people linking us to the likes of Fossey, Dapo etc. like the only players who exist are the ones who've come into our orbit. Sidibeh is another one who wouldn't be getting mentioned if he hadn't scored 1.5 times against us at Wembley. But equally, only absolute headcases watch a significant number of full football matches that a) don't involve us and b) aren't in the Premier League/Champions League. Given we can't afford players in the latter, it's inevitable that the same names do the rounds. I reckon I could name fewer than 25 Championship players (minus those who've recently been relegated).
  10. They are an awful club Blackburn
  11. You won't find me disagreeing. The problem we have these days, is that a lot (not all) of those who didn't vote Labour, seem to take great delight in every single bit of bad news for the country that is published. Was/Is the same with Brexit, and will also be the same with whoever is in power next time.
  12. Goes back to the debate on whether we should be allowing thousands of folk from a completely different part of the world with completely different set of values and ways of life to be flooded in to our society, our already crime ridden society at that. Obviously like you say crimes by asylum folk and the likes will garner more attention from those who want to peddle a narrative but we can't all just pretend the problems aren't there because there's plenty of 'homegrown' crimes. The rise in Afghanistan sexual assaults is avoidable if they weren't here in the first place... There already enough wronguns in our country without allowing thousands more in on a monthly basis. You just can't slam one set of folk into another set of folk and expect everyone to get along and everything run smoothly. Civilization has never behaved that way.
  13. Very hard to have much sympathy for Edwards to be honest.
  14. I hadn’t heard this. Bonkers. Viewing from afar I thought he’d done a pretty good job steadying the ship there (they were down before he arrived) and that he was well liked, respected and set to bring them back up next season, Well let’s hope it’s a shocking move, it destabilises them and puts them into disarray with big egoed, expensive players falling out and underperforming….. here’s hoping 😊
  15. He’ll have sprained his wrist signing his contract and be out for 10 weeks.
  16. I've liked this but to qualify, although I understood his decision it absolutely gutted me. My first season ticket was Rioch's first season and he's the reason I attended until leaving England, his sides were the football sides I fell in love with.

Hopefully turns out to be a solid Mike Whitlow type we had in the past. Underrated, unsung, solid pro that every side needs.

Decent save from South Africa's keeper that. Very much reminiscent of some of his performances for Mamelodi Sundowns in recent years 😁
  23. I’d love to get paid off to not work for wolves
  24. Because illegal ones shouldn't even be in the UK.
  25. Ukraine is virtually on the doorstep. If it falls then it’s the turn of the Baltic States and Poland. After that? Ivan might be banging on your door mate.
  26. I would say FPTP is an old and now silly way to implement our voting democracy and we need some form of PR these days. The Tories were always opposed but if Bolty can change his mind then anything is possible.
  27. I personally don’t think we need to choose between supporting Ukraine or fully funding our own defence budget (I know you’re not suggesting this as such). We can (and should) do both. We just need as a nation to take some decisions for once and get on with stuff. Not easy I know as not much loose change around, but I think most folk want a fully funded NHS, education system, policing/justice organisation and defence. What’s left to reduce spending on? The welfare system (including means testing more stuff). As others have said if it was explained properly (and ring fenced) then in addition 1-2p income tax rises would not be unpopular. Oh, and once and for all stop tax evasion by billionaires and big global companies.
  28. They might be beheaders. But at least they're OUR beheaders! 💪

The price to buy a leading Championship centre back starts at £10-15 million, even an average one will set you back £5 million, if we don’t take risks we won't stay up. The difference between Simons, Burstow and Ben is, Simons and Burstow were bit part Championship players. Ben was so good at Preston, he was signed by Liverpool, and then signed again by Rangers to play in the Champions league. It didn't work out the difference is Ben HAS been someone, Simons and Burstow are still young and are yet to be anyone.
  30. Scrap the triple lock on pensions
  31. Those who didn’t vote Labour are in the same situation now.
  32. Did the police and councils try and cover the white grooming gangs? Was there video footage of the white folk trying to behead folk? (I personally believe footage of an event like that will always receive a different reaction) The Brits being housed in hotels, HMOs etc, did they have to apply first? Maybe lived on the streets for a while before getting a place. Probably paid into the system as well. I guess the majority of Brits expect people coming over here to be well behaved (as would most people from their respective countries) when you folk start coming in and start abusing the system and what they’ve been given it’s going to start pissing folk off. That’s my opinion any road.
  33. Agreed, but as soon as anybody mentioned "tax rises" then all hell breaks loose, as the other parties will be all over them (even though they'd have to do the same) It would be nice, but will never happen, if things like the NHS and MOD were cross party, or an attempt at it anyway - we have real short term thinking on these matters, as the major parties only ever think in 5 year cycles

All things being equal, I might be tempted to sign Sidibeh ahead of Burstow, to be fair
  35. Some of us have forgotten how to think about things with nuance. Or have absolutely no doubt that we're absolutely right about things and that everyone who doesn't agree with them is the 'enemy'. And worryingly most people don't even realise they've fallen victim to it. Or think that they're somehow 'immune' to it. And that's really dangerous.
  36. Looking foward to see the studies in coming years to see the damage the current incarnation of Social media has actually done. Seen it with my own eyes what used to be sound folk turned into hate riddled crackpots.
  37. Incredible even in the mad world of football management. And whilst we'd all like to see Wolves struggle to adjust to the championship, its not our concern other than when we play them. They could have anyone as manager and still finish top 6 with the squad they'll have, as Bolton fans its the teams potentially in the bottom half where we want the disarray to happen!
  38. I’m 100% with you there……but your choice of words rules out Reform/Restore though? Takes us back therefore to having a strong, credible Tory party with policies to support individual freedoms, enable social mobility and promote business growth whilst punishing criminals without fear or favour, and providing safety nets for those who need.
  39. Let there be no doubt about what I wish for my friend. The obliteration of socialism and a melding of the centre right would be most agreeable.

Did Keane's luggage go missing and he had to do a dash to Walmart?
  45. Well good for you, I'm pleased that you found a way that works for you. Unfortunately most people these days live on their phones and clearly those in power around the world wants to control all the media we view, such as social media, Main Stream Media, TV, streaming, cable and everything else we view on, The state is the main actor in autocratic countries such as Russia, China, Iran, and in the west by the very, very wealthy - think Musk with Twitter, Vance threating us to stop legislating against social media in respect of AI child pornography and such like - why because it effect the billionaire owners bottom lines. An American friend of mine recently sent me this in respect of Trumps virtual take over of the control of US network broadcasting, streaming and the The Federal Communications Agency (FCC) - the government regulator. First, blame the American television network, ABC (Disney), for capitulating and paying him off on a frivolous lawsuit. Then, the cowardly network, CBS, paid off for an even more frivolous (and legally losing) lawsuit. Thereafter, the cowardly billionaires of Oracle, the Ellisons, finalized their purchase of Paramount and CBS... with the blessings of the mafia Don himself. Months later, the same Ellisons are attempting to purchase Discovery and CNN. Netflix who had a bid accepted, somehow dropped out after a meeting with Trump, who obviously put his thumb on the scale. Without his approval, the take-over would be nixed. Unsurprisingly, Netflix dropped out, and surprise, the Ellisons announced they were the winners of this prize. Allegedly, the billionaires still needed Middle East oil money to consummate the deal. A long and winding road, and Joseph Goebbels would be proud of these fascist take-overs of the media. Along with Musk taking over X, and the Ellisons running CBS and CNN, there is Sinclair, which has purchased a total of 295 local stations. Surprise, they are a right-wing group as well. The overseer of the airwaves, the FCC, continues to change the ownership rules to favor Trump's favorites... in this case, the Sinclair network. At the same time, the Trump-appointed FCC boss has decided to try and take away the licenses from ABC stations, because comedian Jimmy Kimmel upset the mob boss. We are living in a universe where the inmates are running the asylum. Democracy is going through a hard time these days unfortunately.
  46. Who decides who should and shouldn't be given a platform? Lots and lots of nastiness on it, but leave those bits alone. However, at what point is the "moral outrage" simply a tool to be used by those who don't want their narrative challenging? The very essence of why the country is where it is currently.
  47. He's free. He's experienced at this level. He plays in a position we need strengthening and cover. He's not our marquee signing. Have a Solero and shut the f**k up will ya.
