Prices go up after the promotion we've been clamouring for for years. What a massive shock.

I'm not usually one for claiming x or y is the thin end of the wedge, but without caps on ticket prices clubs will continue to push it more and more. You only need to look at concert prices or the World Cup to see how things can spiral. Fans justifying it, or not caring because it's just fleecing rival fans, are missing the point imo. We - as match-going football fans - will all get fucked in the end. There's more than enough money in the game not to be charging £36-40 in the second tier.

My overall take on the World Cup, putting England aside Enjoyed it. Highly sceptical about the new format but enjoyed watching these new (to me anyway) teams going for it in the early games Time zones aside, 3-4 games per day meant plenty to pick and choose from Thought VAR worked well in the main apart from a couple of glaring errors, and the refs were quite good overall Hydration breaks can go in the bin. Trump’s interference with the red card was disgraceful. Infantino is a cunt. But overall the negatives were minor Will admit I’ve gone from a highly negative view pre-World Cup to thinking that actually it was quite good

First game my Dad took myself and @DazBob to, when Bolton played Newcastle at Burnden Park. We won 3:1 I think, Peter Reid scored for us, and Keegan got a penalty near the end

I'm not disagreeing £36 is a lot, but for eg Cardiff and Barnsley were £30 last season in ESL; £32 for Cat A. An extra few quid after promotion (as well as inflation) is just to be expected.

Higher matchday prices effectively underwrite our cheaper season tickets so a necessary evil I suppose. Expect quite a few games to be around that mark this season. QPR an early candidate for being a pricey one

Cat A for away fans at deepdale will be £33 this season . So barely any difference. They moaned about ticket prices the last team we played them at home in the league because they wanted to wear those silly hats and we put it as Cat A I think it’s expensive of course but it’s the ‘going rate’ now isn’t it. I get what you mean, but it's quite a high bar if only Spain, Argentina and France count as big/good teams. Holland two years ago & Norway this year are better wins than beating Germany at home in 2020. There aren't that many consistently good sides at international level. Beating everyone we arguably should as part of these 'easier' draws shouldn't be sniffed at and will get you there or thereabouts every tournament. Spain went out to Morocco (who also beat Portugal) and Russia at the previous two World Cups, Germany didn't get out the groups in Qatar and went out to Paraguay this year. The fact we've avoided these types of results for a decade is good going.

They are obviously all in a worse place than us at this point in time, but when they were in their good points - they won it. Not bad shoes to be fair to them. I agree with @gonzo, that team is as good as we think it is. Is the defence a bit weak - yes, but I’m also watching Porro, MacAlister and fucking Romero in a World Cup final. No team is perfect 1-11. Our team from midfield onwards is as good as it gets and even the defence still includes 3 City players (and a Chelsea player when he can stay fit). Our problem now is that we have no striker coming through when Kane winds down. Bellingham et al should get better for the next one, but the difference having a world class striker makes is huge, and this is likely the last one we’ll have it for. Tuchel blew our best shot by turning us into a L1 team playing city in a cup game once we went ahead, it really is as simple as that.

Absolutely ridiculous that an away fan could go to a Premier League title decider next season for less than watching Bolton vs Preston.

Two theories on that, one is that if you put a dozen crosses in, the law of averages is one will find an opposition player unmarked, especially if the player crossing happens to be the world's best player ever. But also, without checking the line up at the time, there were so many changes to our defence in the 2nd half, I bet half of them didn't know where they were supposed to be or who they were marking. People talk about having a settled defence, keeping your shape, communicating and being organised - from where I was sat it looked like a load of bodies were just put in the box to get in the way of as many balls as they could, if it was meant to be organised defending it didn't come across that way. Tuchel to blame for that as well as for removing our "out ball".

While not the same, I paid £3200 5 years ago for designs/plans/planning app for a full refurbishment, including a double-storey side extension. Hopefully, this gives you at least an indication of the costs involved.

Even the Portuguese here were - albeit reluctantly- supporting the Spanish. Ref was a little bit stronger than the one we had and the Argies were horrified when he had the audacity to card them - presume they were expecting the 30 or so overlooked fouls they’ve been getting. Very few people wanted Argentina to win after the favouritism they have been shown, me included.

I do think it's a fair question to ask if we've not just reverted to getting knocked out by the first big team we face, which is an improvement on the couple of years just before Southgtlate took charge We beat Germany in the Round of 16 in Euro 2020 so credit goes to Southgate and the players for that, but the rest of the tournaments have followed the same pattern (except in 2018 when we didn't even play a big team) We've got to semi-finals and finals but we've also benefitted from some relatively easy draws

Good examples and they were all terrible. But they were games we never had control of, whereas Tuchel had the game and actively threw it away with his in game management. Maybe in game management is what it's the worst example of really. As he deserves some credit for setting up the team well initially.
