Chauvinists or not, they push their own myopic, narcissistic agenda on every show (in just as heavy handed a manner as Sky or BBC currently do by having the temerity to employ a few more females and let them talk) and deserve all the piss taking they get. Looking at a few podcasts, TalkSport bits he's done in the last couple of months. He seems fine in those.

Slightly shocked at any Wanderers fan who doesn't wish him well. Nobody other than Nat should ever have a statue, but he'd be next on the list.

I respect Sam for everything he did at Bolton.

I cringe sometimes when he boast of how superb he was,  how he invented styles of play & how many World Class players Davies/Gartside prevented him buying.

He's certainly a big headed bastard but I love his disruptor tendencies & I defend him to the hilt when non-Whites criticise him.

Why should what he has done and what he has said SINCE (not that much of it is derogatory of his view of BWFC- in fact he always speaks very fondly of us) he left us stop us appreciating, celebrating and admiring him for what he did with us? 

Why do people give a shit? He’s our best manager, if not ever, then certainly, in modern history. 

FFS he had us finishing it the top 8 in the prem four years running and took us to Europe twice! We’ll never see that again in our lifetime!

As @Dr. Feelgoodalluded to earlier he’s our Brian Clough - while we may raise our eyebrows at some of the things he says and does, I may expect to defend him to other fans, but surely not to our own!! 🤷‍♂️

I spent years being pissed off about how he left for a break and then pitched up at Newcastle almost immediately. That has softened over time though and certainly this week the instincts came to the fore to protect one of our own when people in the office were giving him stick etc.

And the whole ‘better than Pep & Klopp’ thing this week was taken ridiculously out of context from people who literally didn’t listen to the full sentence. And I dare say he knew full well that that would be the case.

All fair points ... but he showed a distinct lack of class when he left and that's what a lot of us can't really forgive.

Personally, I'm ambivalent to him now. I was chuffed for him when he got the England gig, but pissed off with him when his greed fucked it all up.

It’s one of three things;

1/ He’s a past it manager with an overinflated opinion of himself - so what??! It worked for us. 

2/ He’s got some health issues - in which case he deserves some support and respect from at the very least Boltonians

3/ He’s cleverly taken all the attention away from results, goals conceded, overpaid pre-Madonna’s walking past kids to put it all on him so he can get the players on board with his plans…
