"This substitution brought to you by Burton doggy day care!" I'm going to miss that but not a ground I've got any mad desire to visit again.

Think we’d become accustomed to ‘after the Lord Mayors show’ the last few years. You could pretty much bank on the type of performance and result today after being great the game before.

it’s little things like following that 9/10 performance up with a decent 7 or 8 today that will show if we’re properly beginning to turn the corner.

would take a solid and professional 2-1 with the score making the game look closer that it actually was

I can't remember the last time we had a result like the Brum one!  New territory for this team for me, having to follow up an unexpected win.  Huddersfield apart of course - very different circumstances - but  we beat Northampton 3 days later.  So I'm not sure we have a track record for after the Lord Mayors show performances, if only IE had provided 1 or 2 opportunities for us to find out 😀

The comment was more around our consistency. Yes we had runs of 5 wins out of 6 etc under IE but many of those were unconvincing because of the level of our performance. When we did play well it was often followed up by an absolutely rank one. The performance level on Tuesday drove the result so hopefully SS can get more out of them more consistently than we saw in the past. Naturally off the back of that, results will follow

I was taking my "one for the road" too literally & walking home drinking it.

After several weeks Pat put a hand written note up saying "Glass Amnesty. Bring them back, no questions asked".

I walked in a few days later with about 25 glasses in a box. He looked a bit ansty & I pointed to the sign.

He said "yeah, that's when I thought I had a glass issue. Now I know it was a YOU issue !! You can f'cough. Yer barred".

Do you remember when Von & Vesty had it?

Stockport v Charlton looks like it’s pretty windy - to the point it’s affecting control and longer balls. Is it windy in Burton today?

Not a cloud in the sky! Doesn't seem windy

Very feisty game in Stockport with two physical teams going at it - and the ref letting everything go - was wondering if he’s making allowances for the conditions? Either way it makes for decent entertainment.

Good weather in Burton should help us though.

I'm 2.7m from the ground and it's really not windy

Fair comments.

I'm just glad we have a manager now that means we can go into all games with confidence that we'll turn up and give them a game, not just the matches against the lesser teams.  It doesn't mean we will win them all by any stretch, but it makes a hell of a difference to know we'll go toe to toe tactically.
