I really liked the look of Thorpe today - especially first half - read the game really well and didn't give the ball away too often.

 

If we'd moved the ball a bit quicker in the final third I reckon we could have put 5 or 6 past them. They really were dogshit.

 

Wheater, Beavers and Spearing all put in their usual 8/10 performances. But I still think we need a lot more going forward if we're going to go up automatically.

Plenty of positives today, mostly already picked out. Thorpe very good in front of back four, three or four cracking tackles and kept being in the right place to make interceptions and clearances.

 

Beevers easily PP's best signing up to now, another rock solid display.

 

Ameobi did better today but still frustrating. We're still too narrow going forward and could get more out of Madine (and Clough) with a more traditional wide player who got to the line and fed some crosses in. I'd have Feeney back on loan in Jan if B'burn aren't playing him, would do well in this league.

 

Win and clean sheet again though, nowt wrong with that, more of same on Tues would be great

Agree about Wheater, Beevers & Spearing being the heart of the team & I'd add Madine who's way better than Proctor despite the effort Proctor puts in. On today's showing, Vela  & Clough are also becoming important to the side.

I've always backed Vela but he's too soft to stamp his authority on this league. Our midfield 3 isn't quite right for me, we need one of them to push on 10 and Josh isn't the man for that.

 

Madine won. Few headers but he's unintelligent for me; makes bad decisions (like Ameobi) and doesn't work them like he should.

 

Clough plays - we win. Without his craft we are very one dimensional. Play offs beckon I reckon unless something changes. Very interesting season for me

Nailed on win. They were fucking awful. We weren't brilliant but did a fucking good job. That's what's needed at this level. No fancy stuff, just do what you need to do and get the three points. Very happy with that team today.

 

As for the travel to and from the match. Fuck me. I knew that Oldham was full of fucking retards but that was hideous today.
