Derik would be more useful than Karacan as midfield/defensive cover IMO. However, since none of the three mentioned are playing it would not be surprising if they moved on. Quote

If so we may indeed need another midfielder in. No problems with letting them three go- quite like osede, but he doesn't seem to be parkys type of player, so let him go. Quote

Derik is what used to be termed a utility player - great to have as a sub as can cover several different positions, but in the age where we nor have 7 subs, no longer a necessity Quote

Casino Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 just been reading the derik love in on the ben just dont get iot apparently, hes clearlya good footballer well, dunno how that fits with him being totally unable to keep the ball on the pitch when played at right back seems he's a box to box midfilder, as well i really dunno what people see in him he's probably a nice lad but hes not big enough to play centre back and hes not strong/energetic enough or a good enough footballer to play midfield to back up my amusement at todays comments, theres a cracker 'you only have to look at armstrongs goals for newcastle to know we dont play him the ball where he wants it' really? lads yet to score for newcastle but lets not let that cloud things Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 i think hes got a decent pass in him, but as his interview showed (someone put a link on here iirc) he prefers a more passing type game- not surprising as he was schooled at RM. dont think he can handle the physicality. wouldnt surprise me to see him go back abroad. Leyther_Matt Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Maybe I’m a bit harsh in making my mind up about Derik within about 20 minutes of his debut at Morecambe, but he’s done fuck all to change it. He only played in midfield because he was such a horror show at the back. Maybe that’s where people see the similarity with Campo, but in reality Campo did the business for Real, not dick about in their third team then kid on like he’d been playing in the Champions League.
