We're supposed to have bid but it's been knocked back for a lad called Danny Armstrong at Kilmarnock, right winger I think.

Surprised to see the lad has 45 goal involvements over the course of his last two seasons. seriously impressive even if it is SPL especially him not being at one of the big clubs. Can play on both wing too with one year left on deal.

I wish he hadn't. As much as I like wallowing in all the rumours and speculation, I'd much prefer our recruitment to be done under a blanket of secrecy with zero information coming out until signings and departures are officially announced.

There's a fair bit of skullduggery in the transfer window and I hate the idea of seeing targets hijacked - or players, clubs and agents hiking prices based on the media bigging up our need to fill certain positions.

I hope that we are actually looking further afield than the UK market on the quiet.

I don't think Iles mentioning in the local rag that we're in the market for wing-backs will jeopardise any transfers

I'd prefer no comments than hearing bullshit.

Who lets his mouth run? Iles? Or Evatt?

Evatt has been pretty quiet so far (and as i said a few weeks ago, the 'big' statements of the past are exactly that).

If you mean Iles, the poor fella has to fill the newspaper with anything he can at this time of year. I doubt his words will impact anything at all.

Just looked on the obligatory you tube highlights on him..............plays on the right but is all left foot

Goals scored were mainly penalties

"The Killy Arjen Robben"? Basically same thing with Randall, try our luck... get told to f off & then move down the list. As soon as the cats out the bag in the media it gets a whole lot harder as the selling team either want them to commit to a new contract or welcome an auction

If he's in the last year of his contract, I suspect it's the latter.

TBF he does have a bit of the Arjen Robben about him in his running style, but that's where the comparisons end.

Suddenly Killie are talking about "hanging on to their best players". The lad is valued at 1.5million on Transfermarkt (which is a bollocks website) but amusingly that's double the 750k they value Dion at.

We're apparently offering 400k.

BWFC going for an out and out old style winger though? Is change in the air?

Why would he want to be playing against the likes of Crawley etc, when he can play in Europe?

Because they’re in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League and every chance they’ll have been knocked out by August 1st.

Every chance, in this case, the player will play those games and make a decision once it’s clearer whether they’ll ’actually’ be playing European football.

… and like all players in a short career, he’ll likely follow the money.

Like Alfie May, who many on here said it would never happen! He wanted to be with family blah blah blah!

Will be all about money.  Average first team wage at Killie is less than £100k pa.

He's out of contract next June.  He wants a pay rise now, either from a new contract or a move.

Not quite. His hand will be much stronger next summer if he has another good season.  He’ll secure higher wages from a club who don’t also have to invest that transfer fee.

If a move happens, it’ll be because the club want to take a fee now. Gut feeling - if they are still in Europe after August 31st, he’ll sign a new contract. If they’re out before then (‘likely), he’ll leave.

Wouldn't surprise me if Wrexham v Brum games are scheduled for American audiences.

Well they’ve already tried to shift them TO America, so it would be the next obvious move for them.

To an extent I understand the interest from a Netflix series perspective, but are there genuinely a decent amount of yanks that would be interested in watching a 3rd tier game with Steven Fletcher and the Juke up top?

I wonder if that actually plays out at L1 level.  90% of our squad were probably signed on frees, let's say the bigger earners are on 8k a week.  If we signed a player on a free who was half decent - are we really going to put him on £10k a week and make him our best paid player just because (like most of the others) he didn't cost anything?

Conversely, if we pay a fee of £500k, do we say to him sorry we'd pay you more but unlike most of your teammates we had to pay to get you here so you can't have as much as them!  My guess is there's a wage structure and the transfer fee doesn't impact hugely on it (but what do I know?).

I do agree he might end up with a better contract just on the back of having more teams interested in him, not many will want to pay a decent fee.
