Leyther_Matt Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Decided to knuckle down a bit more a few weeks ago and concentrated on limiting my carbs, going on the exercise bike 3-4 times a week and even been on a couple of 2k runs which is a bit of a big thing to me. Finally lost a stone compared to my New Year weight (amazing what you can do in the month or two without away days) and I’m now the lightest I’ve been since I was 17. Lost 25% of my body weight since deciding to try and sort my weight out in the summer of 2014 when I was over 18 stone and XXL tops were starting to feel tight. Proper result. Couple of weeks now of trying to lose a couple of more pounds before a week of donuts and coffee in Toronto at the end of the month. Quote

How low have you been going with your carbs? Done a few periods where I aim at less than 50g a day for a fortnight or so, lose probably 4-7 pounds but find it’s mainly gone back on within a couple of weeks. Quote

gonzo Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 (edited) How low have you been going with your carbs? Done a few periods where I aim at less than 50g a day for a fortnight or so, lose probably 4-7 pounds but find it’s mainly gone back on within a couple of weeks.I’ve not gone too severe. Generally keeping it around 70-130g depending on work load. It’s more about the time you consume them. Fill your boots with oats in a morning. They’ll be gone by tea time. Just keep It low after lunch. Plus it’s the type of carbs your eating. Bit of green veg with your tea is no problem. Just steer clear of bread and spuds. My my calorie goal has been 2,500 and I’ve been keeping under that. Then any exercise at the gym or at work is a bonus. I’ve lowered it to 2,100 which is proving rather tricky, but I’ve substituted my normal meat based lunch, to fish. Two cod fillets has the same amount of protein than two chicken breasts, but well over half less calories. So your still getting a substantial lunch, but saving 400 cals on your allowance ???????? gonzo Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 My diary today has been Breakfast - Porridge oats Diet Protein shake Lunch - Two Cod fillets Broccoli Green beans Tea- Chicken breast Mixed salad With salad cream Snacks 4 boiled eggs Banana apple 5 cups of tea 5 litres of water. 1,499 calories making a deficit of 651 ???????? That’s not including calories burnt at work or gym so all good. ...just showing how easy it can be done without changing your life massively and taking on silly, unsustainable diet plans. Quote

When I did a beer free carb free diet over 8-12 weeks lost a shedload of body fat. Plus learnt a lot more of what to eat and when. Became a dab hand in the kitchen. You’ll find you can start to introduce more and more shit back in after a while. Recently found having a Fitbit Charge 2 has been pretty handy in measuring calories. For a month just upping my steps each day and throwing in regular exercise coupled with diarising my food intake. Weight fell off. As soon as you have those few beers and diarise the 100s of calories, you instantly feel guilty. And think twice the next time. Drinking water helps hugely. 5 litres seems extreme!!! Think I’ve managed 4 tops! Quote
