St Georges Day

I’ve been in the Czech Republic many times when they celebrate St. Wenceslas Day. A National Holiday This year I was in Oz for Australia Day. A National holiday. They have the 4th July in America. St. David’s Day, St. Andrews Day all National holidays, I could go on. Not sure why St. George’s Day is derided by people on here.

They’ve toned down the celebrations in Australia but from what I saw in January, some on here would be smashing their keyboards/iPads/smartphones/Alexa at the Nationalistic celebration of the country they live in. It’s perfectly normal for every country in the world.

Let’s be honest They’re all a good reason for a piss up and you can add many religious festivals (those that permit) to that.

Like you I’m not sure why so many take offence and get upset about it.

Some National Days are based on religion ie. Saints Days, some it’s just about a National Identity based on independence or whatever. Every country, as far as I’m aware, has a day that they proudly celebrate that identity. I just don’t understand why some on here don’t accept that.🤷‍♂️

Turn it into a day's holiday then. People might view it differently. Means fuck all at the moment.

Because they see the flag in a negative way. To them it represents Farage, Engeerland, Racism, Tory, Patio furniture, slavery, old skool black cabbies.

They'll never be happy. They dwell on the past.

No country is perfect but we're one of the most excepting countries in the world. We are decent and fair people and I'm happy with that.

Other countries hate us for no other reason reason that we've always been and still are a strong nation that keeps on going and sets standards high.

Most of the topics on here... this site, remind us of who we are and our upbringings. I wouldn't change mine for anyone.

You don't mean that.

You can see in sarcy comments from the likes of Spider the disdain held by many for our National Day. No doubt he happily drinks green beer and wears a ginger minge merkin on his napper on Paddys Day. Then again, he wouldn't need the latter.

Not a trifle in sight here but a good day all the same.

Before you ask - gammon chop for the most obvious of reasons (Spaz Nob will be wanking furiously at that one) followed by Eton Mess as a tribute to Boris and Jacob.

Horseshit my good man.

I was out celebrating being English yesterday. I went and watched the cricket, drank local ale and even had a discussion about the Queen being probably the greatest living human.

So stick that in your fckin billabong.

My issue - and it is my ONLY issue with 23rd April - are people who whine on that “we don’t celebrate it” whilst sat in their living rooms.

I’m extremely proud to be English and can prove it by living here, all the time 😁
