Shrewsbury (H)

A deserved win, great goals, some lovely football in patches but the same problem of  getting the final ball just a bit wrong.

Fair play to Shrewsbury, they weren't very good but they kept going ( we needed the 3rd goal to finish them off ) & their penalty was comedy gold.

MOTM --  Lee, a class act.

Couple of wins after a shitty run of results where we deserved more and we're 7th four points off top

Need more of a killer instinct to finish off when on top but no reason we can't aim for play offs

did anyone see the handbags after the game ?

as usual youth walk through away fans singing and abusing .

a shrews fan , only small but thinks he's big , goes over to them, some back off , but this kid who can't of been more than 15 and 7 stone wet through , chins him , funny as fuck ,then the old bald bloke who was giving it large to WSL tries to get involved , gets put in his place by pc plod and sulked off to the coach with his child entourage .

Did he have a turquoise anorak on? If it’s the lad I’m thinking of, he was a right little angry cunt. His dad (or sugar daddy, who am I to judge) was the one who did a “I’m gonna slit your throat” action towards the WSL and seemed to revel in his youngster’s anger.

Also not sure why the LOLs about their penalty, that'd happen most weeks if the keeper stays stood up

The key is that the taker makes a split second decision on the strike.

If the keeper is rooted then it goes in either corner.

Penalties are not difficult if you have brains, technique and balls.

Most footballers lack the first.

If he can replicate that first 45 minutes for 90 minutes and stay fit then we will be challenging for top 2.

Raving about us post match

I actually think shrewsbury gave us a very good game

Their "lads' had better get some practice in before we take over their little town in Wales as they've tried it on twice now

Between 73rd minute at Charlton and our 2nd goal today, about 40 minutes, we scored 5 goals. Fantastic.  I'm fairly sure we didn't have any other shots on target in that time, so all 5 went in.  And no shots on target after the goals today?  I'm yet to see a keeper have a bit of a stormer against us this season and the only one I can recall last season was Cheltenham at home (Griffiths, he's at Lincoln now on loan from WBA), and I'm yet to see Dixon make a really good, eye catching save.  No point to make, just surprise, as great saves used to be a feature of matches, and they seem to be a rarity in our games.

Don’t think that they did a tour of Churchgate like their last visit.

Think Eyre got Sarce and Lee mixed up today.

Yes I was right behind that too, it was in all the way, a great sight.  I must admit when we signed him in league 2 I thought we'd have seen a few more of that type, he's capable of that.  Sarcevic has had a great week.

As soon as it left his foot I jumped up screaming what a goal.

And Santos is fucking phenomenal.

This. He's a fucking animal.

Santos and Dapo will be sold to fund our prem push. Mark my words!

Shrewsbury were better than expected, their full back (#17) handled Dapo as well as any other has and they played some neat stuff, created a few chances and won plenty of corners.

Not so good was their time-wasting pretty much from the off.

Ref/assistants were poor, but they always are.

We were very sloppy at times today, but some decent personal performances. Santos was an absolute beast today, Lee was calm and composed in possession and MJ was just MJ. Doyle worked his bollocks off once again and for yet another game we failed to create a single chance for hime.

Overall, not our best performance of the season, but come May 1st when we look at the final table, it'll just be 3 more points.

Job done, bring on the next victims.
