deane koontz
Pink Floyd and Steel Pulse. Never listened to a Beatles album, which is their best one?
jayjayoghani
Not massively into music but even I know Genesis stretches credibility. I'd say The Rolling Stones.

Youri McAnespie
Carcass. Napalm Death. Godflesh. (who got refused entry to Aimerica to tour, because they were scruffy and only had twenty quid on them). Burial. Bird Shit. All piss all over The Beatles. Members bolty58
Fucking hell - here we go again. The Smiths - music to slash your wrists by. There must have been a million better British bands than them.

Selling England by the Pound is astounding.
Not in Crawley
I also have a rule, it's a simple one, but it holds fair. Anyone who says The Smiths are music to slit your wrists by generally should be ignored. Same for anyone who doesn't like John Cooper Clarke. Anyway, their best song is That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore. No, it's anyone who dismisses them as 'music to slash wrist to' It shows they've given it about as much thought as it took to spew forth that cliché. And anyone who takes the first rule seriously. Anyway, by the looks of the response, my rule still holds true.

Fuck me I agree with you ! I like The Smiths get others do not but as you say to say it is 'slash you wrists' to' is basically saying I ain't listened to it much. Have said it before on here that IMO The Beatles music has not aged that well, their legacy is undoubted but some of their stuff IMO ain't great. Surprised The Jam have not been mentioned more certainly the band of my generation that stand out.

Winklepickers has nailed it. At school we had to write a paper on a love song I did, ‘there is a light that never goes out’ and made my point that I think it’s one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Teacher Mr Graham gave me a B and said I wrote well but missed the point about love. That’s when I knew I was smarter than the teacher 😂
