And you can chuck  in the Rotherham away probably FA cup weekend that’s free . Always struggle there

Rotherham not now till Jan, maybe neither Evatt or Evans fancied playing it just now

I’ve given up on him going. Genuinely didn’t give it a 2nd thought. I have a theory (no itk or proof) that we will have to wait till it’s mathematically over till he goes which will be some time off.

I agree, we'll get in the playoffs and lose.

Not wishing to tempt fate - but have we lost at home to Blackpool in the last few decades?

They don't strike me as a bogey side and beating them 1-0 with a (rare for us) 2nd half winner was one of the highlights of the season.  They've scored 1 goal in their last 4 games here in last 8 or 9 years.

Blackpool away is a different matter entirely 😀

Less than four days earlier Stockport lost 6-0 at home don’t expect Blackpools poor run to continue against us

In his pre-match press conference yesterday he described Saturday's result as a "complete shock"

It echoes his "unrecognisable" claim after the play-off final

It's incredible to me how he can still be at a point where a result like Saturday is a surprise after previous capitulations under pressure

So wedded to his philosophy, that he can't see that it won't/can't work all the time.

Yes, it will win us many a game, but without the pragmatism to see what we all see, and adjust accordingly, then a nearly but not quite story looks to continue.

It's because the players tell him they've been working hard in training all week and followed his instructions to the letter

If it was a complete shock and Wembley was to him unrecognisable then you have to ask the question how can he turn things round if he does not see the reoccurring problems ?

I have asked the question on here and other fans forums to those backing IE , what is that you think he is going to do to tackle these problems. Well if he does not see them he clearly won't do anything.

He’s not going, is he?

I reckon there’d be some rumours kicking around if something was going on.

If he survives this then he’s a very lucky guy as probably 90% of managers would have been potted between the play off loss and the Stockport embarrassment.

You can write the story when we all look back at another failed campaign and point to Oxford, Huddersfield and the most recent shambles of Stockport as key points in the season where we should've cut ties.

I'd say it's just a matter of when now and not if.

He's lost the fans, you simply don't get that back.

It'd be the best outcome for all including Ian to be able to take some time away and reflect on his own failings.

I agree.

The one thing that could speed up his departure is attendances dropping and the crowd getting on his back during games.

I think the club are very much letting him decide. Which is nonsense within itself

SB came out a while ago and said she is absolutely comfortable in taking tough decisions which benefit the football club.

the only tough decision she has made to date was deciding to keep Evatt when we were languishing near the bottom of L2. Made miles easier in my book by the fact we weren’t in the stadium at the time. He / she / they (no that’s not a trans pronouns) were protected from the noise.

since then, at every point where it’s made sense for him to go the easy decision, which has been to keep him, has been made.

Despite everything

I fully expect us to finish top six right now

And I assume SB does too

Dunno about her but I'll reassess on Jan 2nd

I would tend to agree but at the same time you just know now that there's gonna be a number of other embarrassing results along the way and that obviously we'll fall at the final hurdle.

I'd happily take an outside shot at the play offs with a different manager in charge if we could re-invent ourselves with a bit of steel and a pragmatic approach to certain games.

I agree on top 6 (and so we should!), I just don’t think we’d get promoted from there though. Strong likelihood that the other 3 would be any combination of Huddersfield, Rotherham, Wrexham, Barnsley, Posh - there’s not a hope that we come out on top unless something changes before then.

If SB is working on the expectation that we’ll make the play offs so there’s no need for a change, then I think she’s hugely misguided. I’d back most managers to get this squad into the L1 play offs, so that’s not a major risk if you were to change, the bigger risk is sticking with Evatt and expecting what happens in the play offs to be any different.

I don’t with Evatt in charge. There are clearly six better teams than us at the moment mainly because our manager is an idiot. Wycombe, Brum, Wrexham, Barnsley, Lincoln and Stockport all have pragmatic managers capable of getting results.

I’d not be surprised if 5 if not all 6 of them didn’t finish above us even with Evatt as our manager. It’s very possible we finish in the top 2 with or without Evatt.

The weakness in that is the "time away and reflect on his own failings" bit. He doesn't believe he has any.

Without we could for sure

But with I doubt it

Because of the nature of his team more than anything

This run to the the of the year is huge in that respect

More likely without than with.

His fatal flaw in his one-eyed obsession with Pep-ball and no other options. He can tweak away but that is going to remain what he does.

He's still here then

I'd take a 5-0 loss tonight in the micky mouse cup if it means he gets fucked off. Sorry not sorry

I just hope he doesn’t go full strength  just to get a win  because he is under pressure especially having rested players for the FA cup I

i would rather he fields the B team and if they can get a win good if they get beat even better because the further we go in it the more the comp will get in the way .
