  2. Ive had a particularly spreadsheet heavy day in my paid work and have absolutely no intention of unpicking wanderers accounts pro bono to keep you happy. Ive said my piece- If PNE can manage it it so can we - too many variables to unpick so easier to benchmark against a similar club. Eddie also gave a great summary of why its a waste of of time. Have a glass of whatever you enjoy, relax and enjoy the World Cup. Season will be underway before we know it.
  3. Don't get why so many are being cry babies over it.....we won, again and look ok, growing into the tourny, like many other nations. Seriously, get a grip and get some air.

The only thing getting tedious is those moaning about it! 😂 Has anyone made more than a couple of signings yet?
  5. Productivity levels will increase up here to the level of the south east, when we have something approaching the transport infrastructure that the south east has.
  6. it's becoming tedious, it's at the point where you see the name of the last poster is Sluffy and you really don't want to click on the thread. Hopefully @zico can do us all a favour and put an end to the Sluffy show

I trust Fergal and the process, but it's now nearly been 3 weeks since our last signing and squad turnover is quite substantial. With 6 first team players released/sold (Johnno, Dempsey, Tutu, Sharples-Ahmed, Schon & Gomes) and the 7 loans leaving. If we also consider that most likely Randall & Taylor will be sold as well. That makes roughly 15 players all who have left our squad this summer. That is mental. We've signed 2 so far and Warren & Inwood have returned but are likely to be loaned out again. So I make that we need at least roughly 12 signings just to have the same numbers as last season. Pre season starts in less than a week and we fly out to Slovakia in about 2 weeks. We've got a serious amount of business to do.

No, I don't mate. Maybe I should've clarified this by saying all the other clubs are championship standard already. I think its fair to say the 3 promoted teams aren't- yet.

I also feel that it will be very much a situation where our starting lineup v Preston may be quite different to our starting lineup come the close of the transfer window. As it will be for a lot of teams. That said, I still would like us to be competitive in those opening games!

32 signings in the Championship so far apparently. That's just over an average of 1 per club. Appreciate a few have bigger squads than us, but its slow everywhere at the moment..

  13. Indeed. Not long ago if I wanted to get into Manchester from where I lived I had to get one of those pacer trains. Basically a bus body on a train chassis. Then we got some ‘new’ trains. Hand me downs from The South when they got their new ones. Dogshit

  15. thank you @Sluffy I personally find your posts very interesting and informative
  16. This is funny but you might need a bit of background first to understand it. Thomas Massie is a Republican that stood up against Trump (he was the one that led to successfully get the Epstein files into the public domain) he's a decent human being from all accounts. However he's up for re-election this year and Trump billionaire friends poured millions and millions into a Republican rival stand stand against who won the Republican nomination to stand against the Democrat candidate in November. Massie is still a US congressman until then. Fox News is basically Trump TV all for Trump and MAGA just fake news, lies and hatred towards everyone else. The reporter is of course from Fox News.
  17. Your fucking boring
  18. Devolution in theory sounds great. Give the money to those who best know what a region needs. My worry though will be the calibre of mayors and local councils to be able to do this effectively. Time will tell.
  19. You’ll be waiting a while
  20. Good to see he’s ignoring Birmingham altogether. The north can still be saved but Birmingham wants nuking. I’m sure his detractors will have their reasons why it can’t work ready to go later 🤭
  21. We don't "get" anything.
  22. I think that's exactly what you're doing.

Netherlands v Morocco is a cracker. I'd say Brazil v Japan and Portugal v Croatia fascinating too.

  25. I really don’t want to be drawn into it as I’ve no intention of looking into the specifics of the ruling - frankly, I don’t care as I’ve every faith in this management team to be all over whatever we need to do / can do. A couple of things I’d point out though: The ‘latest’ accounts that you’re referring to relate to a period that is now between 24 and 12 months out of date. Not even last season but the one before. Our cost base is likely to be very different and as @jmjhb points out, our revenue next season will be hugely different from last season, never mind compared to the accounts you’re looking at. You’re essentially 2 seasons out of date. Stat accounts never tell the full story. Management accounts will likely be different and more likely to be used to be the basis of the covenants set by this new FFP. Trying to unpick them to align with the ruling is fraught with inconsistency. There is no split in the stats of football / non-football related wages. It’s impossible to decipher. Plus we’ve just got rid of loads of them. Technicalities like treatment of management and coaching staff and where that line is drawn and how loan wages (both out and in) count will never be known to enough detail by anyone outside of those dealing with it in the club. You keep using a term ‘unspent equity’. I’ve no idea what you mean by that but can only come to the conclusion that you mean cash. I appreciate that you’re clearly interested in this side of it and there’s nothing wrong with that, you’ve obviously spent a lot of time looking into it and trying to make sense of it - fair enough, not my idea of time well spent but each to their own. If you’d have set out your understanding of it (with the relevant caveats) and what implications it could have, and have done that once, then I don’t think people would have an issue with it. It’s the fact that it’s said with such conviction, despite the multiple assumptions involved, and then concluded as though you’ve found something that the management of the the club won’t be aware of that is the first annoyance. To then just say it over and over again (I’ve read this same theory at least 10 times over multiple threads), which I can only see is done to try and get the approval and appreciation of others becomes really really tedious. I’ve tried to ignore and just scroll past it but it seems to be everywhere and anywhere. Maybe it’s because there’s sod all else happening but its not the most enjoyable experience having my usual scroll through WW at the moment.
  26. This is in my wheelhouse and it’s still excruciating. Same shit being guessed at using out of date numbers and incomplete understanding of methodologies. Subsequently knocked back in an understated but obvious way by someone who clearly knows more than most, only to be taken as the cue to double down, add more words but ultimately say the same thing again. And any opportunity on any thread to roll it out is duly pounced upon for regurgitation. I can’t even ‘ignore’ as my account doesn’t seem to have that functionality. I can’t wait to be discussing whether we could actually win the league after doing PNE 3-0 on the opening day.

Lincoln were functional rather than inspirational, and that’s at league one level, many of their players ain’t gonna cut it and even worse the mastermind behind it has left.

  29. The way the fixtures have fallen, we've been given 3 "winnable" games in August followed by 3 nasty one's. We really can't afford to cough up more points from those 3 than necessary, but SS will be fully aware of that, he won't want to start the season with 6 defeats and will do everything he can to make us competitive from day one. But it does feel strange currently to think we had a squad that struggled to beat the Port Vales and Doncasters and we've lost 7 or 8 regular first team starters. If we started in L1 tomorrow with our current squad we'd struggle, never mind the championship, that's the size of the task in the next 6 weeks.
  30. What were them German defenders doing? Like statues. They were nowhere near that fella! 😂
  31. can't say I've ever known or noticed non-England games to get folk to the pub during a WC or Euros
  32. Reckon it was about 5 years too soon. Most who were against it have now bought newer vans etc. It didn't affect cars as much
  33. Bollocks to the forest burners. Just wanted the Japanese to win.
  34. That's me sorted😀
  35. Yeah, the problem at the moment is, with the exception of Cardiff and Lincoln, the rest have better squads than us I'd argue. But this was always going to be the case when we finally got up. The way some are going on, we may as well not have bothered. Said before this will be very tough but let's see if we can spring a few surprises.
  36. Not sure where you live but public transport in GM is pretty good. It’s what our new PM elect has been praised about more than anything else. I use public transport a lot and it’s as good as anything I’ve experienced in many parts of the world. What is it that the south east has that we don’t?

  38. Probably still is there probably free agents if there lined up . even if a player is out of contract he will be getting paid till June from is former club then we take over the contract from July I would expect Or alternatively there playing in the World Cup and will be tied up till France and Brazil get knocked out

Enjoyed that game more than any other in the tournament so far. Fair play to Ancelotti for his mid-game tactical shifts, Japan struggled with the crosses from deep having looked comfortable in the first half. It is a shame that a lot of the juicier looking last 32 games are late on a school night. World Cup feels more like the World Cup after watching that. Great spectacle.

  43. How can anyone make any projections or assessments on a set of accounts that aren't even published yet? Plus nobody has a clue what level of funding that's about to come from investors.
  44. Well on the lighter side of it, they’re trying to find a name for the cat outside Burnham’s Northern No10, so here’s my favourite so far.. Chairman Meow 🤣 Any suggestions.
  45. Not really worried just yet about only two signings. In some ways there is encouragement because better signings are usually the more difficult to sort. We are 36 days on since Wembley, there are 46 days until the league season starts. We're not quite half way through summer therefore. With pre-season training only a week away we could certainly do with seeing some action over the next fortnight now. However with the high number of additions that we need I expect there will be a "purple patch" at some point in July where we sign three in a week and suddenly things will look far more in shape.
  46. As always it’s a mix and balance. Good and tripe in both. That lack of jeopardy in the group games created some real open games and football. Think I heard the average was over 3 goals per game. Knockout games, between similar sides, like this, where no one is over gambling and are anxious about not making a mistake are not very entertaining.
