I've taught my kids, We go to the match, it's a break away and a day out, if we lose, we enjoy the match anyway. When we drove back from Wembly after Oxford we weren't upset, because we're bolton and we're used to it. But a lot of the social media lot will turn toxic this year, they're already heading that way towards fringe players

I said straight from the off after Wembley that one place above relegation is the aim and anything above is a bonus. Nothing has changed. Some folk need a serious head wobble, this will be a challenging season. Stoke remains a bit of a turning point for me in always desperately wanting to get to an FA Cup semi. Getting to such an occasion had no negative previously. Then I realised getting to Wembley can be a negative as well as positive, it did the club a lot of damage in the short term. Post-Stoke if I'd been offered a guarantee of no semi for 5 years I'd have taken it. Of course I'd take another semi final now, but its lost its innocence, I don't want us like lambs to the slaughter playing City or Arsenal, or even Bournemouth or Brentford. There was a feeling post-Oxford of not wanting to get to another play off final for a bit, it was perfect that we gave it 2 years then produced one of our most memorable games in our history, to put Oxford to bed.

SS & Fergal like Kenny, they've liked him for a long time and if anything they seem to like him more after working with him. That's very promising and I'd like to see it happen - especially on a permanent deal where our faith in him could pay off considerably. But his ability (less so on here) is being inflated out of all proportion.

Even though I’m probably pretty high up on WWs happy clappy scale, it’s always balanced and with pretty low expectations. I’ve heard folk on other socials predicting us for top half and even top 8 - I’d like some of the drugs they are on! 😂

Europe is the fastest warming continent on the Earth. We’ve some horrific times ahead when we hit 3 degrees of warming - doesn’t bear thinking about if the AMOC goes. Collectively we’ve just got our head in the sands & seem to still be in denial. Countries will have no choice but to continue to militarise their borders. The numbers will just be unmanageable. The asylum system works well in its time & was a force for good when we lived in more prosperous times. It’s completely broken now.

A little, but I’m also excited in anticipation of us being back in the championship after so long, playing some good clubs. I think we need to look at it at being 2/3 mini-leagues within the division. So while we might well get a few turning-overs from the likes of West Ham, Wolves, Burnley etc. (and don’t get be wrong these will be disappointing!) When it comes to the likes of Cardiff, Lincoln, Blackburn, Charlton, Portsmouth (and no doubt a few others) then let’s hope we can compete consistently. Yes we are still short and yes we are very much at the lower end of competing financially and experience wise. But let’s look at this as a challenge, let’s see if we can push an extra 10/20% from what we have. There may also be a few surprises along the way! Let’s embrace it, not be anxious and worried about it. Reality in check - 21st here we come!

You know something I learnt recently as I was looking through Facebook groups for where we go in a few days time (booked through Traf for all you direct booking plebs) is that folk actually booked a once in a lifetime trip to the Maldives with fucking Love Holidays? I mean a cheap Benners lads holiday I can kind of understand, despite you regretting the hotel, it cost next to nowt right? But spending several thousands with On The Beach to fly the other side of the world is fucking madness.

I suppose it works the other way too, we know their weaknesses as well as strengths. The same applies to GJ, Tutu, Dempsey and Cissoko (on loan), we decided to replace them with players we don't know (eg Famewo, the two Scots, Dong). We can't say after the friendlies that any of them look like an upgrade so far, that's not judging them, but its not like any of us are saying "wow, big improvement there" unlike a year ago when we could see straight away Burstow was better than Vic, Simons looked miles better than Morley/Lolos and our new wingers miles better than Schon etc. As you say we know Kenny's level, we could hope for better given the opposition but we could also end up with worse.

The swell in the Straits of Gibraltar was so bad virtually the whole ferry were being sick so vomit was sloshing round the floor. Still preferred being on the boat than in Morocco though

Sorry to hear your news. My close pal passed this morning... he was on a constant ketamine syringe drive and just stopped breathing, I was only arguing with the bugger (as usual) on Monday. I know what you mean about grieving and organising stuff... I drove to Heathrow with no notice yesterday to collect his sister so she could be there for him. I'll grieve eventually when I have time

It can be even worse than that, my wife is a teacher, when you talk about the things they have to teach that should be a parenting responsibility it can be even beyond the social expectations you mentioned. Kids get sent to schools not knowing how to wipe after going to the toilet, can't tie shoe laces or dress themselves, kids go to school hungry. Can go even more down the rabbit hole, if they've not been in nurseries there isn't even a basic level of understanding concepts like shapes and colours. Some parents don't parent at all and schools now, especially primary schools, are expecting to bridge the gap and get these kids brought up to a level of their peers almost overnight and if a child can't cope it's seen as a failure for the teacher. It's a stressful and rapidly unrewarding profession and one that this country is very soon going to realise needs far more support or we're going to be in a right mess.
