Don't think I'd feel this way about a Men's (real?) World Cup as I have a long history supporting England but I haven't really ever supported the Lionesses, not sure if they were even a thing when I left near 20 years ago. So my primary support was with Australia here and I'll happily watch the final hoping England win.

It's just another minority sport that I'm not interested in like golf, F1, snooker, darts etc.

I have a FIFA 23 shirt, freebie when I bought the game, that is in Australia colours and an England shirt from 15 or so years ago that R Kid sent me to 'keep me English', truth is I haven't worn either and won't for the final. 'Shirt swapping' 'switching allegiance' 'second team's, whichever way you want to say it is fine by me, as it 'Australian shit house prick'.

I love sport and if one of our international teams are doing well in any sport I'll probably watch. Especially if it's a final. There has been plenty of "minority" sporting events that I've made time for to watch in the past. The Olympics has kept me up to all hours. I love the cut and thrust of international sport when we are involved. Especially If we have expectations of doing well in it. I'm surprised that folk who love football will choose not to watch the final on Sunday. Maybe for some it's a misogynistic attitude towards women's football.

Same here. If Bolton Wanderers ceased to exist, I doubt I'd watch another domestic football match for the rest of my life. I'll watch England in tournaments (men and women), but I'm not arsed enough to arrange stuff around it. My lad wants to watch the game on Sunday, so we'll do that, but I'll be mainly counting down the minutes until we can go fishing in the afternoon.

I agree with all apart from the last sentence.

Folk are entitled to a view, and having it doesn't automatically make someone an "ist" or "ic" of character. 

The advert above, labelling folk gammon etc. Such a crass and trite approach, and one which is hardly going to change attitudes. No doubt some people are backward in their view, but it doesn't mean everyone is. If it just doesn't float their boat, then so be it. 

A sad state of society when labels are reality thrown out for not towing a particular line.

I'll be watching and giving my backing; like you I get into th'olympics etc and support our team. I don't do it because someone tells me I have to or I'm an outlier etc though, but because I enjoy the spectacle.

That's why I said, "maybe for some it's a misogynistic attitude". I didn't say all and wouldn't want to paint everyone with the same brush. I reckon there's plenty of other reason why folk do what they do. I suppose I used a sentence that I felt was more appropriate and accurate given the subject matter.
