nope, said he has an issue.. not injury...

unsure if choice of words or Evatt trying to cover up something if he's hoping to sell him.

The version I heard said he'd had an issue but it had been dealt with.

Jeezus,  surely we can all see why he got dragged off yesterday.   For those who where fortunate to avoid yesterday's drivel.     He was took off because he was shit.   Half hearted- being generous,  non league standard defending on both goals.

Why did he then play him in that stupid cup at Lincoln on Tuesday? Surely if he’s carrying an injury and requires managing it then he shouldn’t have been playing that game - especially with a Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday sequence of league games after it.

Because IE wants to play a virtually full strength team in the cup to 1. keep up the win percentages and 2. give himself chance of another Wembley appearance or cup win to add to his CV.

It was obvious yesterday after 5 minutes that he was struggling but I can’t understand why IE waited til half time to hook him.

And then we went to a flat back four

Another player who our fans would get a shock watching under a different manager. They wouldn’t accept 80% performances from him for a start.

I have been a really big fan, and to some extent still am, of Santos.

But we’ve got a problem with him now.

Yes there’s a valid debate about whether he was injured or not.

But putting that to one side, fit or not, he’s no longer a guaranteed first name on the team sheet.

One of our best defensive performances came without him this season.

The ball moves slower with him in the team.

He’s shot on confidence, I don’t think losing the captaincy helped him.

And he’s not got the club at heart anymore.

We discussed the possible cynicism of Sheehans contract, was it just a case of extending it so we get cash to sell him, it could still happen, if it did, great he’s done himself and us a favour extending it.

But regardless, he looked hungry yesterday, he’s spoke up in interviews, he’s clearly passionate and his demeanour looks one of trying to get the club out of this mess.

I’m not sure the same can be said of Santos.

I like Santos, i think 523 does him no favours and regarding passing i think people forget his nice clear quick pass yesterday helped set up our first goal.

This is a welcome change, me supporting a negative viewpoint and you a positive one 😊

I agree with both your points to a degree. While I think generally the team would benefit with 4 at the back, I’m not convinced Santos is one of the two CBs in the current climate.

But him at his best does the good things well and better than anyone else, a bit like his pass yesterday.

My issue isn’t so much his skill and qualities, more his confidence issue, his heart, his demeanour, I hesitate to say attitude as this sounds more choice based and a conscious approach.

I think his issues are more unconscious, brought about by knowing he wasn’t wanted as captain and he’s not going to be here in 6 months.

I really hope I’m talking a load of bollocks and he comes back from this set back/injury as the Santos we had previously.

He’s not been the same since him and his wife got loads of abuse over the internet.

I don't think 523 does anyone any favours. Except perhaps the opposition.

Santos isn’t beating anyone in a foot race unless he was up against  a mctee anymore we were over  reliant on is pace before evatt as failed to adapt playing in a back four would help santos

I understand his qualities but it is time for him to move on. I'm just guessing but I think he feels the same.

Iles this morning says Santos omission is “fatigue”, it’s not an “out and out Injury”

Looks like there's meat on the rumours.

Just sell the guy for what we can get. He obviously doesn’t want to be here and it’s showing so do everyone a favour and get what we can before heaves in the summer anyway.

Santos is becoming a liability, I'd get shut.

Need to persuade someone else to stock his fridge.

Only just seen this, and you're right.

Who knows, if people didn't dish out unwarranted and personal abuse online, one of our top players might be more inclined to sign a new contract and play to the best of their ability. Just a thought! (not directed at you obviously 🙂)

Yes.

At the same time though, he's allegedly been stalling on a new contract, and if he doesn't feel committed, then have a word with the gaffer, and get himself away.

Best for all concerned, and he'd go with my appreciation for his efforts in getting us out of the doldrums.

He’s untouchable in Evatt’s eyes.
