Ani Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 he's terrible, shit crosses, bad touch, and he put a fucking corner into the stands https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EDNjEqAZyRI Good players sometimes fuck up. He is a kid, gives ball away too much, he can learn. Good feet can cross a ball. Quote
Whizz Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 He's not been paid yet either for his first team appearances. Does that mean owt to the people slating him. Playing for free atm. Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 As above he's just a kid. He'll be a good 'en, plus he looks a giant with our current crop of midgets. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Good athlete, great left foot, needs to work on his right foot so that he can turn players both ways and still get a cross in, needs to work on pacing his game better to see the 90 minutes out but let's be patient let's not ruin the kid he's got potential. Breightmet Boy Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 It's brilliant the kids are being put in, they're buzzing their spuds off and the feel good factor will be spreading down the different age groups at the club. I can't knock Lennon for it, fair play.. Quote
MalcolmW Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) Kane would have been making 5 minute cameos at Spurs this season if Soldado had not been a dud. Obviously not every kid comes good (far from it) but many never get a proper chance. If it comes, take it, like Clough and Walker have. Incidentally, on the day Clough was born a 16 year-old striker made his debut for Leicester. Whatever became of him? Edited April 20, 2015 by MalcolmW Quote
Traf Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Walker clearly has ability, but it has to be said that he had an absolute shocker at Brentford. Mind you, he's very left footed and right wing probably wasn't the easiest place for him to play. Could do with bulking up a little, was knocked off the ball plenty, but he never hid and was still looking for the ball in injury time. Looks like a decent but not brilliant young talent, who just had a bad day at the office. Having the likes of Vela, Threlkeld, Kellet, Clough, Walker, Clayton etc in the squad can only be good for the future of the club. Quote
awandering Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Wouldn't say he had a shocker, a few crosses / set pieces were but some of his play was good. Not his best game but not a shocker. Quote

BoltonPro15 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Very promising. He shows us just a little something every game to keep me interested, whether its a good cross or beating a few players. Quote
paulhanley Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 We're probably been a bit spoilt by the standards set by Clough and Vela. Walker is probably more like a normal youngster making his way - inconsistent. As others have said above we'll need to stick with him and hope the coaches work on him. A good solid pre season ahead will surely help. Who'd have thought 12/18 months ago we'd have so many academy players through the system - with Kellett to return, Threlkeld playing well on Saturday and others out on loan or having been on loan and doing reasonably well - notably Woodland. davidjack Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I think he looks terrific. He hadn't played in the first team til a few weeks ago and now he's a regular. Lennon wouldn't do that if he wasn't intending him being a part of his plans. He's big, strong and quick with a great left foot. So he's misplaced a few passes, fuck me, so what? There were some near me on Sat moaning like fuck every time he didn't beat 5 players and stick it in the top corner. Folk like that can fuck off - we don't need em. Quote

Breightmet Boy Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 It's not done Southampton any harm at all taking a couple of steps backwards to move so far forward with entertaining football with home grown lads mixed with talented experience around them. If Lennon is blooding them too early we won't know for a few years, but we've just got to trust him, and going off his assessment from games I do. Quote

Incidentally, on the day Clough was born a 16 year-old striker made his debut for Leicester. Whatever became of him? Became captain of by far the greatest team the world has ever seen? We're probably been a bit spoilt by the standards set by Clough and Vela. Walker is probably more like a normal youngster making his way - inconsistent. Rob Hall didn't do too bad Fwiw, have said it before: need to be realistic about TW, a year group younger than ZC, and needs to be nurtured. I think he has a lot of promise... 2-3 years could see a decent home grown side Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 There's not been much to cheer this season but the emergence of these young lads has been something. Walker's probably a bit more raw than Vela and Clough but, given the extended run of games NL's been prepared to give him says he thinks there's something decent in him to develop. He needs to build a bit of strength to resist challenges and put tackles in of his own but he does have a bit of something. We should be giving him and any other of the youngsters NL bloods every chance and every encouragement Quote
gonzo Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Kevin Nolan hardly ripped up any trees during that first season in and out of the first team.... Quote
frank_spencer Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Walker has bumped Bob Hall down the pecking order at left winger/forward. It's also the position Clayton was playing prior to his injury. It looks like we've plenty of options for that position we need someone on the right as well as Feeney. Anyone who follows the reserves/U21s know if there's anyone who can play there? Quote
HomerJay Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 his 1st touch is fukcing awful but he certainly has a decent left peg no issue with him playing each week and learning his trade, he can only get better Quote
COYW Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 It looks like we've plenty of options for that position we need someone on the right as well as instead of Feeney. Quote
