Mcginlay and branagan were who you know signings

Why would managers not sign players they have previously had?

No reason at all, and those 2 would pass any criteria of what you want in a signing.  But arguably some players get a contract they wouldn't otherwise have got, eg McManaman or Crellin/Dixon.  Generally you'd hope there was a bit more research/scouting going on eg Toal and the players we've been reportedly after recently.

Never understood why people think it's a bad thing this. It happens in all types of work. First thing I did when setting up a few years ago was take a couple of lads from where I worked previously. Know them, trust them and know what to expect. No different in football, surely.

I totally get that, and I've benefitted from it myself.   And you'd obviously also want to bring in good talent irrespective of background/contacts alongside them.  Not a positive or negative, just a throwaway comment that 1 or 2 players get moves they might not have got if that manager was no longer in the game.

Port Vale Forum saying Will Forrester is a done deal 200k

Not a clue if the is any truth in it but its a few saying it !!

After what happenned last week with the 2 'done deals'  we will definately be keeping anything as quiet as possible till the scarf above the head pics

Indeed, this was Jason Lowe today allegedly. Maybe Vale spending our Forrester money on Lowe's wages.

Sorry but don’t get that signing if true, why we forking out 200K on a CB when we’ve just had the second best defence in the league with Rico-Johno-Toal along with Geth as the cover. Unless Rico or GJ is off then what’s the point in wasting a significant sum of our budget in that area? Not to mention the 300K according to Iles on Nlundulu who has hammy problems & barely fount the net in all three loan spells at L1 level. Hopefully some clear upgrades make their way through the door in the next few weeks.

Both stoke and vale lads I know rate him (he made the cardinal sin of moving between them last year)

we needed an extra CB looks like we’ve got one at a decent price, decent age and can pass a football. Don’t see the issue

Looking on their forum, their are mixed views, the pros, he as potential, the cons, very lightweight, and prone to mistakes and errors. We will wait and see!

I have it on highest authority that I've never even noticed him.

Puzzling signing - maybe the moneyball calculator has seen some previously undiscovered potential? But £200k on what appears to be a gamble if true?

This is what happens when you miss out on your primary targets
