Sluffy Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 What if the players had tried to resolve it behind closed doors but got no joy? Anderson's response was as damaging as the player's initial statement. Tit for tat and none of it good from either side. It seems that players union have only now stepped in to mediate - as per Iles tweet about 4 hours ago - why bother tweeting they have stepped in if they had been there for some time? The issue was all but resolved anyway as it was only the difference apparently between receiving the money on the Friday, or the money being paid in on the Friday and not being available until Monday that seemed to be the issue for the strike. That being the case did they really need to go on strike and wouldn't it have been better for everybody if they hadn't gone public with it via the gormless Iles? Quote

They were told money would be paid Friday but it wasn't. We don't know if it has been paid today either. Plus seems like selectively two players weren't paid at all. For some odd reason. Quote

Duck Egg Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 Wonder if Gary madine got a bonus for us staying up? I'd say he's more entitled to one than Amos or Chris Taylor Quote
Sluffy Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 They were told money would be paid Friday but it wasn't. We don't know if it has been paid today either. Plus seems like selectively two players weren't paid at all. For some odd reason. I'm sorry but you are incorrect in what you say. Only ONE player had his June wage outstanding when the banks closed on the Friday - Quote from Anderson's statement - 1) With the exception of one player ALL the players have been paid their salaries. https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2018/july/chairmans-webnotes/ Tweet from Iles (on Saturday) - I understand one senior #BWFC player (not Amos) was paid his wage for June at 7.30pm last night. That's 10 minutes after I launched the article on The Bolton News' website. https://twitter.com/MarcIles/status/1015543750771306496 The money was being paid into the bank on Friday but the players demanded the money to be made available to them ON the Friday - Quote from Anderson's statement - 2) The Championship retention bonuses and loyalty fees were planned and authorised to the bank for payment on Friday. .However, the players gave me an ultimatum that unless these sums were received on Friday they would not take part in the game planned for Saturday against St Mirren. Having personally assisted in funding many of the payments for the players’ salaries, for the majority of the time that l have been involved with the club, I was not prepared to be threatened or blackmailed. It is misleading to say that they have not been paid on time, as for many months now, ALL the staff at the club have been paid on time, particularly since l have been the majority shareholder. https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2018/july/chairmans-webnotes/ As for the players not being paid today - I think we would have heard something about it by now via social media or Iles by now if they hadn't by now. Don't you? As Mannyroad58 succinctly states in his post above you are tending to go "round and round" with this - and I notice on several others threads I've not been involved in too. Quote
Spider Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 Are they still on strike? I didn’t know Bout any of this until last night and it all seems fairly pathetic. Crack on, eh lads? Quote

tomski Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 Just reading the articles on the Bolton News site. Is anyone reading those and seeing Iles as a neutral reporting facts ? Me. I’m not sure why he is getting a hammering for all that’s gone on? Quote

Leyther_Matt Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 Hopefully they turn up at Colls tomorrow, I’m sure there will be plenty of kids there looking to meet their heroes so would be a useful PR move even if a few of the senior players don’t end up playing. Quote

Might get some reminders who they owe for having a living as a pro footballer Last time I went Holding played His dad was stood with harry the Burton keepers dad One of said dad's was a bit of a twat and held the ball out for an Athy player then tossed it away He couldn't have moaned if he had been spitting teeth out Quote
Whites man Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 is anyone else not arsed about this , or am i on my own Of course I am arsed about it. This is the players of our club refusing to play for the team, it's not a debate about the colour of the sponsor's logo. Quote
Carlos Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 Every indication is that the Colls game is going ahead as normal, first team players will be involved. We’ll be confirming this in realtime as people start to arrive. Quote
Dr Faustus Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 I'm only arsed about being a ton out of pocket and having a disappointed child, but life goes on. This. All well and good having a stamp of the feet. We'll all get over it, however this petty (in the grand scheme) dispute has not only cost folk money, but disappointed those who worship the players as idols. It's a twats trick, and the fact the greater good hasn't been addressed or even recognised is pretty shit. As a side... Hope Amos starts tomorrow Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 North west tonight ran an article earlier. Iles was on. Players and ken weren't. If I miss heard it, he said some money hadn't been paid (the reporter not iles ). Don't quote me on it, but, as it raised an eyebrow I presumed he was wrong or I didn't hear correctly. Quote

Isnt that the whole point? Some money hasn’t been paid, hence the strike. Or am I missing your point? Quote
