I used the 4 lads thing just as an example, albeit a fairly unlikely scenario these days like you say - but it shouldn’t be.

How about a family who aren’t season ticket holders or members and they see that Sunderland are coming to the Unibol in a few days & they fancy a day out - it’s going to be a pain in the arse to get tickets, therefore they more than likely won’t bother.

It could turn out, that under the ill thought out  membership  scheme Sun’lun at home would only attract as many home fans as Fleetwood at home -  and that would be such a shame.

This 👍

Youi literally have to give your name and address once to join. Such a pain in the arse

@TrafYou've run shit pubs 😀 so you'll prob know this

Why did old fanzone feel so shit?

What was it that made it so fucking dismal

The hotel is hardly spit and sawdust but that's a nice atmosphere

Only went in fanzone once. An "up-coming rap artist" took to the stage about 10 minutes before kick off to promote his new album. Never seen a place empty as quickly in my life. Must have been a good few hundred in, and it was empty within 30 seconds. Felt a bit sorry for the lad to be honest.

Probably quite soul-destroying for him, but another example of BWFC not knowing their customers.

He’s probably a plumber now, who raps shit songs while he’s plumbing

To be honest, I like the idea of it being for both sets of supporters. Our whole football experience is a bit shit if you’re an away supporter so having somewhere where both sets of fans can mix is a step in the right direction

Bolton & Wigan fans in the same venue - What could possibly go wrong?

We should give away fans there own “fanzone” behind the South stand, like a shit version of our own superbar.

Tbf it generally seems to go ok at other grounds, a bit of a case of showing trust in folk and they actually behave.

That said, I do think a beer tent on the away car park is an open goal that has been missed for a long time now.

On one of the few occasions I went in they wheeled out this young girl who'd won Wigan's Got Talent to sing a song

Was like Bonnie Le Muff in Phoenix Nights, blokes awkwardly supping their pints wanting to watch the footy on the TV whilst she pranced about on stage

The word fanzone is a bit of a misnomer really, all they need to create is a pop-up pub once a fortnight. Some TVs showing the live sky game or the horse racing etc, some decent music in the background but not too loud that you can't hear people speaking. Smaller pub style tables, decent range of ales/food served by people who know what they're doing.

A pop-up pub and run it like a mini beer festival. I don't know, I'm asking, what would it cost for a couple of the local micros do do something like the smaller Christmas market type bars ?

Northern Monkey, Rivington could do it. Not sure about Brightside in Radcliffe but I'm sure there's a call for it.

I've said it before, but the beer festival type of set-up would work best IMO.

Club sells retail space to the brewers etc and then doesn't have to get involved in the staffing etc, but still make a few quid.

Exactly. Club gets it's share first, does some advertising emails. It's not like they haven't got our details. Imean proper advertising sales , not a drawing of a bloke walking past something  stuff. The brewers might have to take a hit first week, but quality sells itself.

I went to Salford city when they built the new ground as I lived down the road.. annoys me to say but it was very well done.. they had a local brewery in, think it was 7 brothers and Street food as well as generic beer and usual football food.. stick that in a big tent showing the early kick off and not messing about with embarrassing entertainment and definitely no compare or forced fun.
