Who would you pick for nailed on starting positions? Dixon, Santos, Dapo and MJ? Whoever comes in needs to be a step above what we currently have. The rest have all been questionable. It's hard to choose a position that needs replacing with the squad we have.

Members Rudy
Baptiste Delf Gordon Gilks Thanks but off you pop in January Need two fullbacks GK for competition not back up DM for cover and to close a game out And as much as I’d want a CF in Jan we ain’t getting anyone unless we pay through the nose or they’re shite
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 18, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted November 18, 2021 Granddad stays as keeping coach doesn't he. Kachunga shown a bit more recently, but wouldn't bat an eyelid if he went. Tutte goes too. Let's be honest, after such a serious injury and rehab he's not likely to be involved much at all anyway. We need some lads with more of a physical presence. Fitness is all well and good, but for me some of them are looking a bit fatigued already. Some basic strength and aggression needed asap. Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted November 18, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted November 18, 2021 Dominant centre half, defensive midfielder to go along side MJ and a keeper who comes to collect crosses a few times a game are a must for me. I don't care if the keeper is hopeless with his feet - Jussi was but still a great keeper. We won't be successful by leaking 60+ goals a season which is the way we are heading
deane koontz
A Striker who can score A centre back to partner Santos who isn't as weak as piss 2 full backs who aren't cadburys fire guards A squad midfielder who can tackle, cover and can pass the ball 5 yards and has done it at this level. Out? not arsed. So long as it isn't any of our spine. Might take 3 windows this mind
Morizio
Maybe some of the hothead championship manager or whatever it’s called these days, players can unearth some gems from the Peruvian third tier and who will happily play for the minimum wage. Whitesince63
Unfortunately, as the players are under contract, we can only replace them if they find something elsewhere, which is highly unlikely. Summer is different but for January, I think we have 3 places to fill so for me all efforts should be on a good striker, even if it’s a loan. Would it be worth bringing back Greenidge to see how he does alongside Santos? He never seemed to get much of a chance yet is left footed, seemed decent in the air and does have a turn of pace? I’m prepared to be shot down on it but surely he’s as good as Aimson and Johnson? I’d also look for a ball winning, hard tackling midfielder to partner MJ and lastly would bring back both DP and RD because they’re both better than other options we have. kent_white
I'd be happy for a journeyman keeper to come in for Dixon. Need competition/back up at right back for Jones. Left backs will have to do. Centre backs will have to do. Need competition/back up for MJ. A loan signing in CM wouldn't go amiss - possibly with Thomason going out on loan. Would bring Politic back if I had the chance - but can't see any more signings out wide unless wotsit goes back to Germany. Same upfront - can't see us getting anybody in. Tutte and Delf out the door if possible.

Site Supporter desperado Posted November 18, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted November 18, 2021 For me It’s more about who comes, not who goes. We’ve got spaces in the squad so it’s not imperative to get shut of players. Some of these younger, inexperienced, quieter players who don’t have any leadership qualities will/are better when there are older, more experienced leaders around them. Santos is still learning to become a leader - he’s not there yet. The natural leaders for me are/have been Sarcevic, Doyle, Gilks and MJ - no coincidence that none of them played last night. (For us!) So for me first on the list is someone with experience at this level or higher who has some record of having had some leadership influence on their CV. We may not find that in January. After that every area GK/FB/CB/MID (especially a number 10) and CF. Now that could be interpreted as us needing a completely new side/squad! It doesn’t. I think this squad has potential and is still leaning - but it lacks depth. I think recruitment is a longer term view than just January. Over the next 12 months we need some recruitment both as squad cover and for competition for places in first 11. It all won’t happen immediately and January is a notoriously difficult time to find quality - I’m still amazed at how well we did last year. LeggyMountbatten
We need a GK, RB, CB, CM, No. 10, CF as a minimum As for the current squad: Gilks - retirement Jones - keep John - keep (been utter shite recently though) Williams - keep Santos - keep Johnstone - squad player (started well but has gone off a cliff) Delf - get rid Sheehan - keep Doyle - keep (long term we need a better striker so Doyle can become the L1 Shaun Miller) Bakayoko - squad player Dixon - squad player Xavier - send back? Is he any better than Politic? He will be on more money as well Aimson - squad player Dapo - keep Tutte - get rid Lee - keep Brockbank - get rid Isgrove - keep Kachunga - squad player Thomason - loan out Baptiste - get rid Gordon - get rid

Moderators Casino Posted November 18, 2021 Moderators Share Posted November 18, 2021 Btw, I'll trust evatt to get what we need, but what I've noticed in last night's match thread is how baba gets a free ride Theres definitely some talent but he just doesn't graft enough I'd love quigley, but then he won't come up against our defence and I include our midfield in that, every week

radcliffe white
Dixon is ok for now some steel in midfield Karl Henry type who can get stuck in and play a bit sick of seeing weak players in the middle sort politic situation out Do need back ups for Jones & John
Duck Egg
Williams and Connolly were 2 recent loanees who i reckon would be perfect for us right now. Both midfielders that get stuck in with the latter capable of playing at full back too.
