  1. Whether she made an error in keeping Evatt on or not, is nothing compared to the soft arse nature of some of the players' lamentable performances this season. The last one to be focused on. No need for big speeches etc. She's a good 'un.

It's alright, after Farage completely fucked us over with Brexit, he's now free to have another go at finishing us off. And there's folk lapping it up like the frog faced cunt is some kind of Messiah.

The problem is he brought all these fairies to the club.

Collins has one more league goal and one more assist than McAtee. It baffles me how one is seen as being a class apart and the other wants chucking on a bonfire. They both have many of the same strengths and weaknesses. Other than that I agree. There is a tendancy for all our players to be overrated because they might be good if we sign a much better player to play with them. So what? If Wigan sign a better than average L1 player in the positions you've listed they'll also challenge. SS said it best 'we just need better players all over'.

What happens when you sign players based on data and not character. Wonder what Jon Newsomes, Paul Warhursts or Ian Marshalls stats were like? Lads like Gary Speed and Per Frandsen. Ultimate professionals. Our current shower of shit can barely train properly.
  6. Cogley and Thomason are the least of our worries. They'd be the last to go. We need a better than Toal, injuries aside, he gets rinsed against any form of physicality. I didn't think Dempsey was good enough last summer and I still don't now. We really do need to shift this culture of what if at the club.

Or a tendency to be under-rated because we are judging them with the set of clones they are playing with? We could almost field a team of number 10s who all do the same thing.
  8. That's right. Stockport are outstandingly well recruited, prepared and coached, in training and on matchdays. No stand out talents, no mavericks or ballers, just strong, fit, fast and decent players, who as a unit are really effective
  9. I read the other day that in his 10 years or so as a manager at 4 different clubs Challinor has always finished in a play off spot or automatic spot

i never drink on a monday, it's the one guideline I try to live to that keeps me from thinking i'm a proper piss tank but as i was knackered from saturdays boozing, I didn't drink yesterday and now feel like I've missed out on a bank holiday booze so i'm going to get some cans in to make up for it later and convince myself i want to watch palace v forest whilst supping them will definitely regret it in the morning

Just bobbed in my local for a cheeky bank holiday pint. £2.65 a pint for Monday club. Can't grumble at that.
  12. I hope the next time we hear from her is on the top of an open top bus singing James McLean is a terrorist as we celebrate winning promotion with a record points haul.

I've been getting rib eye burgers from Atkinson's butchers, and making my one meals. Putting them on a bbq is even better. Fuck the rip off merchants.

To launder cash for drug gangs or cultivate weed farms? Turkish barbers and car washes aren't helping our economy. We need proper economic migrants here to bolster our economy. Not scores of folk coming for our benefit system, free housing and to wash cars down Deane Road. We need foreign students, foreign health care workers etc etc. Unfortunately we aren't as attractive to these people as we once were. Losing swathes of Polish was a nail in the coffin.
  15. Toal and Dempsey need to be moved on. I like them both but they simply take up 2 spaces in the squad that can be used for someone who could be available. Sadly they are part of the problem
  16. Agree with that pal. I think Collins tops the list there. But I don’t think I’m going to be persuaded otherwise that in terms of comparative talent in L1, that the likes of Forino, Toal, Morley, Sheehan, Collins, Tutu, Dempsey, aren’t good enough. Granted injuries are an issue with a few. More debatable are keepers, Cogley, , Tommo, Schon, Randall, McAtee all too inconsistent to be anything but debatable, but at their best have shown glimpses. Get a few different qualities amongst them, pace, leaders, physicality then hopefully we see the best of them.
  17. That's the reason they work now as nice little quaint places to walk along and maybe the occasional boat, but to bring them to commercial viability is a lot of money.
  18. Agreed but wouldn't worry too much about our final position. The likes of Pompey, Ipswich, Derby all finished outside the play offs the season before they all got automatics. Big summer ahead...

Can by citronella, which is slightly different, but chucking peel about is reported to keep pests away. Could boil them up I suppose and make a spray. Anything like that will need to be reapplied after a while. Loads of different methods available.

  26. They've got a half decent manager (had Wycombe top 2), before Saturday they'd improved enough to have only lost 1 in 10 championship games, and presumably they'll have money floating around either from sales or parachute payments, or both. No guarantees, but they'll be favourites assuming no other club does a Birmingham or Wrexham and gets rich backers.

Said a few days back, a squad can stand one or two who need this or that player around them to bring the best out of them. When you've half a dozen or more of those types, as we have, you've a problem.

I personally think it’s a great move for him. I don’t like em but they are the biggest club in the world. Money, lifestyle and better chance for more trophies. Not sure why anyone except those who think life ends at the PL would think otherwise. Hopefully gives England a better player as well.

Thanks again for supportive comments, glad others have had positive experiences of being there at the end. Today there were seven of us in room, his wife, his mum, his sister, 2 daughters and a friend of the daughter kids are 15 and 20. He was in obvious discomfort despite the syringe box pumping non stop morphine in. His breathing was described as ‘apnea’ - like sleep apnea but he was not asleep- so basically stopping breathing and then suddenly gasping so gradually less oxygen getting to his brain, it was awful to watch, my missus had to leave the room and gradually everyone else did. They were all distraught. We lasted about 30 minutes, he died 2 hours later. Everyone got a chance to go back in and say goodbye which was nice. Think I will book a holiday tomorrow.
  39. Nah. More harm has come from those who labelled the people who spoke out as racist etc. The abusers would all be locked up now. Hopefully the tide has turned and the apologists will be called out.
  40. There was no cover up in the case of the Blackrod abusers. That is the difference that many seem to miss. There are still cases in certain towns that have not been acted on for the reasons I gave above. That is why a national inquiry into the handling of the abuse is required.
  41. Yes there should. The previous government are to blame as well. (The one that got kicked out) It’s been years of failings. The problem, which is at the heart of the matter is the usual rhetoric that we are talking about now. Whenever it’s brought up the usual excuses and they are excuses come out. Dog whistling, racist accusations, far right rhetoric, lads in Blackrod etc etc.
  42. Montgomerie wasn't holding it up as some form of failure by a new government and neither am I (although I've got practically no faith that this government, much like the others, have the will or the appetite either) Powell's response - even in circumstances where the issue wasn't being used cynically - is indicative of a broader attitude among people in positions of authority and is a key part of the reason why what happened happened And, of course, there won't be any consequences to her for expressing that attitude (much like there hasn't been for the numerous police officers, social workers, council officials who enabled the offending)
  43. In this case it wasn’t ’Dog Whistling’ He brought up a very serious, for some anyway, subject. It was the usual response. Divert way from the issue and attack the questioner. This has been mentioned in another thread. Look at Andy Burnham’’s response. A national inquiry is required.

Our under 16 girls were robbed of a league title. They were level on points with Stockport at top of their league. There was a play off to decide the winner yesterday. We took the lead and the first half was all one way traffic. Mid way through the second half the ref gave Stockport a penalty. That was saved. The game seemed to be heading to a 1-0 win as Stockport couldn't get anywhere near the goal. The ref really wanted Stockport to win. As the game reached the final few minutes she gave a controversial goal that was at least 10 yards offside. The linesman had his flag up for offside. The ref said because one of our defenders had headed the ball that was fine and not offside. Our keeper was very pissed off and got sent off for dissent. Whoever else went in goal for last few minutes fumbled the ball and Stockport got the winner. Our players and coaches spent 5 minutes at the end of the game complaining to the ref and linesman. Both teams are in the cup final next week at Wythenshawe ground so revenge could happen quickly.
  45. I think she should send me a personal written apology for our complete failure this season and with a promise to ensure she gets it right this time round. 🤪

  47. Flying Horse is good. Get yourself to the Baum next time, mind you it's a bit of a walk. Rochdale's surprisingly good for a pub crawl.
  48. Called into Rochdale on the train to sort out my car repair. Lots of phone calls and broken promises forced the face to face confrontation. It worked and getting some extra work done as compensation. Anyway, pleasantly surprised with Rochdale and the area around the Town Hall and church. In the Flying Horse now with a nice pint of Brid’s Cross Pirate Queen. Lovely. Might try the one next door as well. Edit. Walked in and then out.😊
