Whitestar
Just been looking at some old cars on YouTube and it got me thinking that when i was a young lad i was car mad and loved and hated certain models just by the look of them, I'd obviously never driven them or read reviews on them as you would today. As i got old enough to drive and even afford to probably buy the types of cars I'd always liked it never happened, and these were realistic purchases not super cars, so thought I'd mention a few i thought were stunning in the 70s. Datsun 240/260z Triumph Stag Ford Corsair 2000E Fiat supamirafiuri TC Capri JPS edition Alfa GTV6 Opal manta gte, anyone actually had one of these beauties? As by 82 they would all have been very affordable if not old bangers?.
Site Supporter Winchester White Posted November 15, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted November 15, 2023 VW Scirocco, the one from late 80s. Vauxhall Calibra was nice but not aged so well.

When it wasn't pissing oil, having electrical faults, cutting out the power steering, crumpling its rear wishbones over a pothole... for those 2 days a year, it was a lovely drive. I still lust after a mid 90s Alfa Spider. I just know how completely detrimental that decision would be to my bank account!!
Whitestar
LOL, see that's exactly the point. When i was old enough to drive these cars I'd always loved and had the money to get them I'd lost interest. Circa 83 one weekend i set out to purchase either a 2.8i Capri or a RS2000 escort. The Capri's were plentiful, the RS,s were were a lot harder to track down but once I'd seen and looked at both they seemed SO basic and old fashioned. Underpants
Was never into cars as a kid. Even now I don't want anything special. I only look at them as a way of getting around.

Site Supporter fatolive Posted November 15, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted November 15, 2023 Always liked Cortina’s as a young kid, prob because there was someone on the estate who had one painted like Dukes of Hazard , complete with air horn playing Dixie as well but the only car I ever wanted was a jeep like the fall guys . first legal car I had was a chevette but the best car I ever had as a teenager was a Vauxhall viva I bought for a tenner off some bloke who thought it was knackered, rear wheel drive and went around every corner sideways as a young dickhead . coolest was a Nissan Bluebird mk 1, 2 doors but could roll the back windows down as well as the doors so the whole side was open , so thought I was cool as fuck in that until it blew up on me and caught fire on the M56 . happy days when cars didn’t necessarily need insurance or paperwork or even a driver with a full licence …
