we played lincoln and he was good as anybody on the pitch

he left the pitch laughing and joking with evatt

definitely hadn't 'switched off' for that one

he followed that with a horror half v cambridge and wasn't seen for the second half

i think he probably is injured

i also think hes probably already sorted for next year, somewhere south of brum

Spot on. At his best, he's still one of the top League One defenders, albeit with youth no longer on his side.

And he's been outstanding at times this season. His form really has been reflective of the squad - up and down.

No idea on his current situation, but just after Xmas he was already looking at the logistics of a move back down south and, as you say, i'd be fairly sure he's pretty much fixed up already. Orient, Peterboro, QPR - plenty for him to go at and he'll get one more really decent deal.

I do hope he plays again. He deserves to leave on a high with the fans and, on his day, still the best centre half we have. Struggle to see him playing in a 2 though, so depends how SS wants to set up

This is probably a big part of the equation from our perspective

It's his last big contract and he's possibly our highest earner (if not, I imagine he'll be close)

Are we in a position where we can be comfortable offering him a two/three-year contract on a big whack as things are?

I'm not so sure

No chance. He’s also not going to QPR unless they come down - I’m not having it that anyone has watched the first half of this season and 2nd half of last and come to the conclusion that he’d make a good option in the league above.

Prior to that I’d have backed him all the way, but his pace is going and without it (and with less ability to just bully weaker strikers) he’s shown that he’s not adapting too well.

It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up but I’d argue he has to play for us and play well until the end of the season to reignite any chance whatsoever of his move being up a league.

I like Santos and thought he was our best player (best of a bad bunch) this season up to New Year.  I suspect he's just injured but probably not busting a gut to get back.  We'll see.

He's 30 in June so his best days will be behind him I think but still got 2-3 good seasons to offer someone.

I hope to God we keep Cogley. Another who's been subject to abuse from a few dickheads on Twitter despite being such a consistent performer for us.  It's hard seeing Jon Dadi or Randall Williams knocking them in for other sides but their injury records suggest it was right to let them go. By contrast, Cogley never gets a rest!

erm... wonder why he’s so injury prone?

as for Rico- love to think the door is still being held open and he's peering through, same for everyone (inc JC!)

if not- i spoke to him on the pitch v Barnsley , and i'd say the same again as he shook my hand... obrigado big man

Yes I'm sure it's the loan signing of a fourth-choice strikers that's done it.

Probably sick of nonces on social media sending him abuse for doing his job

Why did they let him and Evatt spend so much weeks ago. Seems even more baffling now.

The last months of his reign are truly strange.

Bod seems to be doing well at Burton.

Was gutted we didn't re-sign him. I'm probably looking at it with rose tints but thought he was skilful, held it up well and could win headers, think him going was a small part of many for our recent decline.

Don't remember him being as injury prone as everyone made out and we could have kept him on a very low contract due to that reputation. Different planet compared to Vic.

On the one hand yes

On the other when he did play last season he missed some big chances in big games

I'd have him over vic though

He wasn't perfect by any stretch but I'd love Vic to be in the right place to miss a chance occasionally.

Hopefully you're not referring to that great save by the Derby keeper to stop his header, probably the last time any BW player got a header on target from open play (prior to Desmond's last week).

The one before it was the header at Pompey pre-Charles open goal miss, another header that no other BW player would have had the ability to execute.

We should have been looking for an upgrade but all we did was spend a load of money to downgrade.

:D He never recovered from me shouting at him to get stuck in at Blackpool.

With what we had available it was right to let him go. I'd have him back now like.

Vic only ever worked with Dion.

Not having this missed big chances complaint, the only one most refer to was at Derby but it wasn’t a miss it was a fantastic save by their keeper. All strikers miss chances and nobody, including Bod missed more than Dion and he wasn’t injury prone either. He’d never had problems before he came to us and got no more knocks than most others and missed most games because Evatt didn’t pick him giving only 15 minutes at the end of games. We miss Bod, there’s no question.

22-23 Season, Injured January and out for the season

23-24 Season Injury in April out for the season only got back playing in October..

Even at Millwall he was injured a fair few times

He only came on a 12 month contract (I'm assuming due to risk of injury) with a 12 month extension, but having picked up 2 injuries in 2 seasons, it was time to say thank you but sorry.

He's doing well now, but there's always risk of being injured again.

Barnsley away was a terrible miss.

There were about 3 in the same game later on in season too.

If he was as good as you think he is he wouldn't be playing at Burton Albion.
