Spider Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 General consensus is that a maximum of 10% of the population will have been infected by the end of April. That leaves over 50million still vulnerable to the virus. I can only see a slight lift followed by another peak towards August, which i suspect the govt. want but will never admit to. I'm not getting giddy about deaths dropping to 717. I'm more fucked off with the fact only 4 people can attend my Mum's funeral. I get it , but it's going to be awful. Quote

Four? It's she having a cremation or burial? They may have changed but last week Overdale was limiting to ten. Ask your funeral director about live links. They give a log-in code so that those family members who would normally attend could watch proceedings from home. The crem staff have also been instructed to switch off the outside speakers in order to discourage gatherings by any family members who attend but are unable to enter for the service. Quote

Powers of entry are detailed in PACE 1984. If during an investigation, evidence is secured unlawfully, thereafter that evidence and the other evidence secured from it is deemed inadmissible. Its quite simple, the police have to justify their actions and in this case the use of force. Its South Yorkshire police, who have recently been chastised for telling a family they aren’t allowed to be in their front garden. Under normal circumstances, there are situations where they can enter. Under new laws, I would imagine that police have more powers. I don't understand why he wouldn't want to open the door? It might have been someone with a delivery for all he knew. If he's genuinely concerned about coming too close to anyone, why not shout from behind the door and enquire as to who is there? Something doesn't add up on the video. A bit like Tommy Robinson's stuff; a bit too convenient and easy. Quote

ErnestTurnip Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Summat I've wondered about in a completely speculative way is this. When China locked Wuhan down, if Covid turned out to be more deadly than it is would they have sacrificed 11 million people to get rid? Quote

Traf Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Some easing of conditions in Europe this week. Some shops re-opening in Spain, schools opening in Denmark. I'd guess we're 2 months away from anything like that. Quote

A bit like Tommy Robinson's stuff; a bit too convenient and easy. I’ve already covered this with casino. However, opening your door is a choice and not a requirement. Criminal law has a presumption of innocence and not guilt. The video shows that the police have used force to gain entry, apparently to check on a gathering, there’s no gathering. He’s there alone. They then leave flippantly and arrogantly. As he is in his own dwelling, the language he uses is more permissible. See section 4 public order act. Regarding the new law, has it actually received royal ascent yet? I thought it’s due to come in force on the 24th of April. My understanding is that the power of entry extends to enter to remove someone who has tested positive for the virus. Quite clearly that didn’t happen. The police follow the law and don’t make it up. When they go off on a tangent, that’s when cases collapse. Quote
Biggish Dave Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 If the government have said furloughing is initially 3 months to the end of May as well as other measures, it’s pretty safe to assume they are not expecting things to ease until June at the earliest. They are going to give money away for any longer than necessary. Quote
