Stockport fan in peace, good game yesterday both sides taking opportunities to shoot themselves in the foot our first being a gift, your 1st Hogan giving ball away after receiving it in acres but you ruthlessly punished us for it, the 2nd our keeper Ross has a mare should hold initial tame shot or at least push it wide or out for a corner and then should save the rebound but more than a hint of offside about it I'd say our 2nd was just about the pick of goals with least reason to find fault for, we dont really need the money but a replay is nice and it was more for us about giving hope of better things to come given our outlay we were utterly garbage under our previous manager and in reckon we did that and good to have fans and players all pulling in same direction again which wasnt happening after Gannon's departure There were moments where the difference in divisions showed but not enough from your point of view and thought we were good value all in all for the replay plus weve never lost at Reebok/Macron/Unibol whatever its called now! Dapo Adolayafan was the best player on pitch by a mile Finally thanks for the warm applause in the 18th min for George Thompson i know his family appreciated it and was emotional for them Be nice to get a good incentive in draw for either side get a good incentive to potentially earn 3rd round place I'd imagine replay be on TV only game i could see threatening that is solihull vs wigwam, am sure Mark Stott will reciprocate the favour with cheap ticket prices for the replay too and you'll get the uncovered railway end and 2 blocks of the popside which im sure wont have much trouble selling as there be no daft ,membership schemes! Ive only just got back from Bolton after becoming ill with i think food poisoning from dodgy kebab night before so missed minibus home and booked into Beehive Premier Inn for the night to essentially just s**t for hours in it, which was an unexpected end to a decent day out! Good luck for rest of season (replay excepted) and hope we join you guys back in EFL in not too distant future
  2. You watch out for that landlady…

Good atmosphere in there for what really isn't a football type pub, there was a poor unsuspecting family celbrating a birthday having a meal, i'd imagine blissfully unaware of a football match on that day, what could have been seen as bit of intimidating atmosphere for them turned into a great day for them when took it upon ourselves to sing them happy birthday, and they soon realised mood wasnt all bad and were lapping it up!

2 posts and both reference separate times he's shit himself. He's already in my top 10 posters on here ever! 🤣
  5. RIP Happy. Sad news, thoughts are with his family.
  6. Reading the stuff on Rivals back at the very start. It was the funniest thing ever. All Bolton and BWFC related. The “Budgies in the Arndale” comment was from back then and became legendary for a while. Before long, posters started to arrange “meet-ups”, either at matches - or eventually on a pub crawl around town. And not long after, football teams were being established - a few one-off 11-a-side games against teams from other local forums - plus 2 sides from Greenock Morton that I managed to arrange games with - we still owe them a return visit!! The “Clackervalves” 5-a-side team was born soon after. And posters played. There was always a hardcore, but then we drafted in other posters from the site. We even had posters coming to watch us. The European away trips were obviously the cream of watching the Whites - and this site was a total buzz. “Fastest finger first” trying to book those cheap Ryanair, EasyJet, etc flights to far flung places. And whilst Neil was instrumental in arranging the more sanitised charter flights - the hardcore of posters on here always chose to travel independently at the cheapest price possible. To pay for luxuries on these trips was seen as failure. Budget flights, shit hotels, etc - that was the name of the game. There’s so much more to say. But meeting fellow posters to go to gigs with and to cricket matches - even England football games abroad - all because of this site. In fact, I’ve been to weddings and christenings of WW posters. And had WW posters at my own wedding. Neil was a miserable git! Let’s face it. He grumbled. And rightly so. We pushed the boundaries on here. How he never found himself doing a stretch inside for some of the libellous comments on here - not to mention racism, sectarianism, sexism and the likes. Thankfully, its all cleaned up now!! I did meet him a few times through the football. Travelled on that great Arsenal cup match coach. But I also crossed paths with Neil at breakfast networking events. He was establishing his IT business around the same time I was. Always felt like he kept his cards close to his chest. He even smiled on one occasion! RIP fella. A genuinely nice bloke.
  7. Get Mounts to copy and paste it for us
  8. Ive hardly had a signal for a couple of days and found out from @BOWTUN BAKEDs message on my phone Hes just one of probably hundreds of folk id never have gone beyond nodding terms without this place If neils aim 20 odd years ago was just to provide a chat forum, he failed massively its gone way beyond that RIP Happy Wanderer
  9. Long time reader, first time poster. Thanks to Neil for creating a place that has been my go too for many many years for transfer, admin and all other news! RIP to a man who created a space where you can still feel the warmth and humour of the terraces despite being many miles away.

I have total patience mate. (Not saying "mate" in a condescending way either) I'm one of the only ones on here who's said to give Kachunga some time to prove his worth. Not sure where you've read impatience out of my post. Evatt and FV have my full backing and I'm not expecting overnight success, but it's quickly becoming apparent that we need fresh bodies in the building if we're going to progress to the next level. Some current players will also have to make way. I don't think that's impatient, it's just a fact. Couple more transfer windows and we'll hopefully be in a better place. I'm saying it's a positive that we have space in the squad and not too many lengthy contracts on the books so we can continue to add to the team. You could argue we are a better team than we're currently showing and we're just on bad form but we've had the same problems all season, not clinical enough and leaky in defence. Maybe that's the tactics, maybe that's the players but it needs fixing one way or another, and that will take time of course. In the context of the last couple of years I'm satisfied with where we're at and of course we're lucky to have escaped from administration and landed on our feet with a good owner, I'm grateful for that, but there has to be some room for criticism of either players or poor performances.
  11. CFirst met Neil as I was selling White Love fanzine outside the West Stand. He approached me and asked where he could find the fanzine owner, Smiley. I pointed him over to the bandstand where he was. That meeting probably led to wways appearing in White Love in and attracting so many notrights That spell after that led to some great memories, especially for myself as a young fledging from Blackpool with limited match going options. Through this gaff I ended up on sportsman's dinners, miami fun busses and later on euro jollies, meeting some of the best people I know along the way and some now I speak to daily. All down to this place. I met Neil various times during those euro jollies, what a time it was for all of us. This place and organisation that went on for them made it completely. I know this place must have stressed Neil out at time, especially during the Megson and KA years, but I hope he could look back and see all the good that came out of the place, the friendships, the trips, the charities and the memories made for everyone and thought it was worth it. There wont be football forum like it anywhere else. Not a chance.
  12. I know theres another thread but a condolance thread really doesnt do the fella justice. His family are reading this and I think a thread entirely about our ace memories of Happy must surely be a good thing. If it wasn't for Happy I'd have never gone on Zozzy Tours. 10 of us I think in a 9 seater mini bus. The driver stopping at every petrol station for us to have a beer (still cant get my head around serving beer at a petrol staion). Having nothing but cocktails and beer for 3 days straight. Finally getting to the match and falling asleep immedietly only to wake up in injury time. Thankfully after much panicking it was just injury time in the first half. On the final leg home I was in agony, I had to ask the first aid bloke at the services for help. He went over me and questioned when the last time I had eaten was. After much thought (It was now Sunday), other than some fucking horrendous tripe soup I realised I'd not eaten since Thurdsay. I was prescribed a cheese butty. Thanks Neil for being a direct influence on one of the greatest 4 days of my life

He was, true. But these issues are right now with the head shed in charge. And the numbers involved are eye-wateringly massive.

Haha not quite more necessary precautions to avoid that situation occuring Tbf having travelled to about 130 different grounds watching County (a sign of our rapid decline through the divisions considering only 35 years old) i could write a book on my away day stories, from this latest episode to falling in an allotment at Blyth Spartans, getting reported missing to the police in Milton Keynes, 2 trips to Staines Town in 3 days to watch us be dumped out on pens The list is endless really and I wouldnt change it for the world! All part of the character building
  16. Start with Cub Swanson v Doo Ho Choi, then watch it again, then again after that Cheick Kongo v Pat Barry Frankie Edgar v Grey Maynard Triology Jon Jones Alex Gustafasson 1 Dan Henderson Shogun

  28. Bolty could do with reading Voltaire's Treatise on Tolerance rather than misuse quotes to wrongly back up his position. He won't though, as Voltaire believed in the efficacy of reason.
  29. We've had brilliant support this season with home crowds far in excess of what you'd usually expect us to get, midtable in the 3rd division. We stand to lose a lot of goodwill and momentum with the large core of casual support. Feels like we've really kicked ourselves in the nuts with this.
  30. Oh do fuck off. Spider and CaptainMed were spot on. Cunts trawling back 10-30 years to find something which today is objectionable to try to ruin people is as low as you can get in my book. I don't give a fuck for YCC - they can crash and burn never to be seen again for all I care. Fuck all these crass motto's we are being bombarded with too - for example "Stop hate' (good luck with that one, shall we stop envy, avarice and coveting another mans wife whilst we are at it?). Absolute bollocks because it is something primeval in the human race which will not be eliminated by some glib mantra from some nanny state social engineer seeking the warm glow of virtue in the eyes of others. The biggest irony with you and your ilk is your haste to label others racist, fascist, nazi etc. Your sort - the legion of 'find something to be outraged about' wankers can't see that when you seek to control what people say, read or think, you are going down the exact path which leads to totalitarianism. That is exactly what the Nazi's and the Bolsheviks did - that ended well did it not? Evelyn Beatrice Hall attributed the statement 'I might not agree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it' to Voltaire. Freedom of speech is quite possibly the most important pillar of democracy. The world might have to ruefully acknowledge the veracity of this statement when it is all too late.

  32. Good point. The social events, The Euro jaunts,The away days, The money raised for many different causes, the friendships, the camaraderie, the banter , the togetherness, the memories made. Priceless. Thanks Neil. Rip fella.
  33. I got signed up and bought tickets in pretty much no time, but the more I read about other people’s struggles, the bigger the pile of steaming horseshit this whole episode becomes.
  34. But a lot of folk don’t have that patience unfortunately. These days, you’re only as good as the last game. Short memories from some dimwits.
  35. Obviously very sad for Neil's family. And a dark day for the community of WWs. The inevitable is not an easy thing to accept when it arrives 😔 I hope Neil's family can take something from the messages and thoughts being left on here. His love, all them years ago, for BWFC started something that snowballed in to what it is now. A community and the biggest and best Wanderers forum around. Nothing else comes close. He was the top man. The boss. The gaffer. Thank you, Neil.
  36. only CELEBITY that matted @Happy Wanderer

  39. Just reading some of these posts and remembering the many great trips with people off here. Originally on Rivals, getting a coach to Southampton with Miami and a slightly rowdy group, trips to Prague, Euros trips, losing my car for a week, losing 24 hours after sportsman's dinner. Someone shouting dogfucker at Swanny, seeing Garp grow up, . I could do a massive list. But the real legacy of this site are the many people who now know so many more people at the match, some who travel to games together, some just on nodding terms and others who might well avoid each other 😎😂. The site has raised £000s for charity over the years and time after time people have rallied round to help each other from vouchers and match tickets to sponsorship and giving folk work. I hope Neil's family read this thread and realise the genuine difference he has made for many years. And yes there once were budgies in the Arndale Centre.
