Huddersfield have some tidy players but playing as individuals. Their RB, No 8 and Harness were very tidy.

Sheehans best game to a while by the way. Seems him and Rodrigues have worked out a very good understanding quickly. Ruben is a very tidy player but also works very hard. Also think his positivity and intent is rubbing off on Sheehan a bit as the last couple of games they’ve looked far more progressive in their passing

difficult one when Erhahon comes back because it looks to be Sheehan +1 at the minute and what you gain defensively with EE you lose going forward

I think that because Sheehan knows that Rodrigues can be "trusted" with the ball, it frees Sheehan up a bit more and gives him more space/licence to roam. It also takes some of the pressure off him.

He was like a wasp on Tuesday night, all over the pitch.

Another bonkers day at the Reebok, we are now so hopelessly stacked one way in terms of our assets and deficiencies we might as well just try and outscore whoever we play, in any game, first leg, second leg, final.

Defensive foundations are crumbling around Forino (even our own players taking him out 🤦) but we have a ridiculous breadth and depth of forward assets, almost a throwback to Keegan's Newcastle of old, you score 3 we'll match you and some.

Kenny was sensational, going up a level with every game.

I agree with that summary for home games, we are never beaten which is brilliant.

Hard to say its the same away - never looked like joining in at Cardiff, never troubled the keeper at relegated Port Vale in recent times.

That's why we need to be at home in the 2nd leg because its a different ball game chasing the game away at a top 6 side.

Without all those draws we wouldn't be in the play offs, they've saved us.

And quite a few of the wins would have been draws without injury time winners.

We can't complain at our draws when we never get pegged back but gain points from the jaws of defeats time after time, 100% the reason we aren't about 8th.

In contrast Huddersfield have lost 5 points against us in 2 draws, and drawn 3 games in 8 days despite winning all 3 after about 96 minutes.  They are the team that can complain about drawing too many.

If we'd start playing before 80 minutes we might not go behind so we wouldn't be chasing a late draw.

Also means that he’s not the automatic choice for every player to give the ball to. He’s the easy out ball but means he gets it in all situations and positions, regardless as to whether he should.

With Rodrigues (and ACD) in the team, there is someone else for players to trust with the ball which means Sheehan is often receiving it when he’s genuinely the best option, rather than the only option.

Still think it leaves us too open to hit our weak back line, but there’s a lot to like about them two playing together.

Fair play - good response 👏

I responded like @Tonge moor green jacket suggests, like we are chatting in the pub. An emotional reaction to going 1-3 down.

Glad to see you acknowledge the spirit. 👏

That may take us to the championship.

@only1swanny and @RUREADY2ROLL might do the same to be fair to them.

I’ll be amazed when f @Whitestar does! 🤣

I love to be proven wrong when I'm negative about the team.

I worry about our consistency at times..

Which is my point about RR working hard. Not just with the ball. Sheehan couldn’t roam if he felt defensively it would leave us exposed.

whether it has been a conscious decision or not I don’t know but when he did play with Erhahon that should’ve also given him the licence to go move 10 yards further up the pitch but they ended up playing alongside each other quite deep.

the way they attacked was really good, especially down the right, god knows how they didn't score in the 1st half and when they went 2-1 up it reflected the game.

In some ways I'm glad we won't be playing them in the play offs

I really couldn't disagree more with this assessment of Huddersfield. Created nothing in the first half, were relatively fortunate to find themselves 3-1 up against 10-men and still couldn't win. What we did to Stevenage was what a good team does when up multiple goals and with an extra man. They didn't push on for more, and even with 10 we found it pretty easy to find some decent positions in attack.

A couple of decent players, but many more totally average ones and they stink of being absolute bottlers (something like 14 points lost for them after 85mins including six in the past week). They remind me of us last season.

Stevenage and Plymouth are miles better.

I usually find quite a bit to agree with you on @Johnnyrotten, but I’m struggling today.

Your glorifying of Huddersfield is a bit perplexing to me.

I think @Tombwfc counters it well.

The stats in the game up to the sending off were massively in our favour. They had been outplayed.

And they then went on to concede 2 against 10 men! 🤣

Out of all the teams up there, they are the team I’d most like to face in the play-offs!

Good lad. 👏

Agree about consistency too. There’s no way the play-offs are going to be a smooth ride!

Loved Kenny today

Proper workhorse

Keeps everything alive and wins so many balls back, a real pest

Agreed. He's growing in confidence with every game. and doesn't half put a shift in.

My assessment

Game should have been killed off by half time. Dalby misses 2 sitters.

They had a threat down the right all day, a centre half playing out of position and a winger not tracking back is not a good combo. Gale was bossed by the right back did not look like going past him. The change to bring Conway on as much more of a wing back than winger looked obvious. First 2 goals came down that side. Down to Schuey IMO.

Their penalty, is IMO the right call, but it was identical to a challenge on Burstow first game of the season where not even a foul was given. Different day, different ref, but if that is enough for a penalty and a red card why when Dalby was nearly pulled over just outside their area in second half it is not even a free kick ? Ref lost the plot, has this rule changed ?

  • Injury Due to Cardable Offence: If the player was injured by a reckless tackle (yellow card) or serious foul play (red card), they can be treated quickly on the pitch and remain in the game.

The spirit in the team is great but god it is stressful, when we scored I told the Huddersfield fans ‘to fuck off you Yorkshire bastards’ I have lived in Yorkshire for 42 years 🙄😂

Assume Dempsey was injured ?
Assume one match ban for Tutu ?

You can see Huddersfield have spent on a few individuals but seem disjointed. Would have the right back tomorrow (think they paid £500k for him 2 years ago)

With the later results it ain’t been a bad day.

I felt the ref made some good calls, but with the wrong sanctions..red and a penalty.. it's a penalty and a yellow at most can hardy see anything on the replay.

They did far worse and that on Mcatee was shocking.

Their player on the corner deliberately handballed and one of theirs put their foot on Conways back.. all far worse.

And booking Kenny .. good grief

RR naturally swapping and covering with Gale and ACD was sublime, just drifted out and covered perfectly. 👌

I'll post it here. Not sure if it's me being a nob but doesn't feel it.

One of the security in the club shop was wearing a Palestine lanyard, didn't sit right at a match. Spoke to a member of staff (nicely) and said going to a football match with that on will irk the wrong people.

He’s a very very good footballer. I love watching him play. He’ll absolutely dominate on a Wembley pitch (as we’ve already seen to our peril)

That's an issue with Exclusec who provide the security, not the club

If it's a penalty it has to be a red card.

It's a professional foul. Only would be a yellow IF there was a genuine attempt to get the ball. There really wasn't.

Sub contracting a task does not abdicate responsibility.

How does that work?  At the very least they score a goal 2nd half at some point, there's no precedent whatsoever for us running away with a game against a half decent side who have 11 men.  It was a very even game between 2 decent sides, no team was keeping a clean sheet in a month of Sundays.

Letting one in just before half time and going in two down is a massive kick in the bollox psychologically.

McAtee was incorrectly made to go off for treatment as the foul was a yellow card
