bolton va va Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Still pigsick. Brum were hardworking, well organised & took their chance but i didn't think they were much, if at all better than us. My big worry is that i can't see where a goal is coming from especially if we go behind & have to try & break a team down. Ameobi & Buckley aren' t doing enough on the wings, there's no creativity in midfield ( which isn't the fault of the defenders who often have no option but to launch it ) & we've no target man if we go long, when we're clearly missing Madine. Just shouting for whoever didn't start to be playing isn't any answer, because those players haven't done well enough when they have been given a chance......not many would have argued with last night's starting 11. It looks like we'll have to grind out the results we need to stay up.....six 0-0's would do me !! Quote
marple whites Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 As soon as we go one down, it feels like an uphill task. Agree with the wing backs, we have got to cause the opposition more problems. Let them worry about us for a change, rather than us always worrying what they will do. (we seem to second guess all the time and keep changing the team to suit) Whats wrong with playing the same team week in, week out (personnel allowing) and saying we will cause you problems whoever / however you set up. Spider Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Juventus fans applauded Ronaldo's goal last night I don't know why we can't just do the same when Juke scores. Dead bitter. Quote
Kane57 Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 What a load of trash, in it what was one of our biggest games of the season. Apart from Le Fondre and possibly Vela, the quality and commitment from the rest was tosh. This has really set us back, as Barnsley play early at home to Sheff Utd on Saturday, so if they win that they will be 2 behind having played level games and if we get our "usual" quota of nothing at Derby, they can then overtake us. I can really see a battle of Oakwell, but after last night, not sure we will win it. Why does Vela get a pass? He was dreadful again Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 We stopped playing 3-5-2 because sides exposed our back three....not sure why we'd go back to it now? The system wasn't at fault last night. This system got us draws in two away games, plus beat Villa at home. Fair enough, would still swap the full backs though Quote
Ani Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Did not go last night but we were clearly shit. Now is the time to be backing the players and manager. I think we need 6 points. Given away form hard to see where they come from. But Barnsley would happily swap places with us. Quote
Eddie Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Fair enough, would still swap the full backs though I wouldn’t be rushing back to 352 either, it causes us all sorts of problems and makes us very easy to attack. I still think just changing the full backs but still keeping a back 4 would give us more attacking threat without compromising the defence Quote

Dr Faustus Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I still feel that a more poignant question is why was the 9 iron from Beevers our only ball? Understanding and changing that is surely more pivotal to our immediate future A return to Matt Mills Soccer Skills last night, episode 1; Punt up front Quote
birch-chorley Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 So Henry was brought off as precaution hopefully that is the case and nothing else The German pulled up again Does anyone know how long morais and Pratley are out? I’m not sure, but in Pratley’s case I hope it’s not long, I’ve just looked at our points return with / without him in the team... birch-chorley Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Worth noting that the 6 points that we gained when he played a part we were 1-0 up in both when he went off, we went onto win 1-0 Quote

Look at last season and it was no surprise that when we were struggling to get over the line late in April, he played in the win at Fleetwood, which was arguably one of the best performances of the season. Underpants Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I had a rubbish nights sleep because of that result. 3am woke up with it on my mind. Never did drop off back to bo bo land. Quote
passmosster Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I find it incredible that a West Midlands based referee is reffing a key Birmingham City game. The FA is clearly incompetent. Quote
captainmed Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Last night was shocking. We ain't going to win a game when we go a goal down and didn't even look likely to draw. I cant help thinking that we will need to win an away game before the season is out and given the fact that we've scored first in only 2 this season then that's very unlikely. So its relying on Barnsley IMO and if they beat us at home, then i am starting to fear the worst. If Barnsley beat SU in the early game then the pressure is really on, as we'll lose at Derby for certain, and then its a bang in form Millwall. If we don't stay up from this position then we dont deserve to neither. Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Dont worry when we went out to 9-1 for the drop after the Villa game I stuck 20 quid on . I NEVER win bets. Quote
Horwich Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Playing long balls to a 6ft3 target man would be more effective than humping it up to 5ft9 Le Fondre. Despite leaving in January, Madine has scored more goals for us this season than ALF and amoebi have between them Wilbraham has scored more championship goals since the transfer window closed Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 As many have pointed out above I still can’t get my head around the full back changes, especially for our home fixtures. Very strange from Parky. Quote
Roger_Dubuis Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Wilbraham has scored more championship goals since the transfer window closed Wilbraham, Ameobi and Le Fondre have scored 10 goals between them for Bolton this season, Madine scored 10 in the half season he played for us. If we go down, one of the main reasons will be because we didn't replace Madine's goals in my opinion. We had a cheque for a few million to have a go at replacing Madine's goals but kept it banked.Ken has had a go at the manager and the players effort in his message to the fans today, no mention at all of the amount of money Brum have spent on their team and the zero money that Ken has spent. Quote
Eavesy Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Too late in the day to spend the money wisely. Bid for a few replacement target men. But rebuffed. Signings were a clear message we have to change style. Either the chairman telling the manager or the manager telling himself. It’s now April. By hook or by crook will be the approach. Quote
