Saw a video of some bloke in Lanzarote. He said it was like there being an outbreak on the Isle of Wight so making all visitors from Iceland self isolate.

He’s got a point

Aye I could, that’s why I’ll have a test when I get home. No one can guarantee that you’ll not catch it over on the U.K. and that’s the point really, folk here are in the pub, in the gym, having a meal going for a coffee and given our higher infection rates it’s more likely you’ll catch it here than where I’m going in Spain. Yet I’m the pond life for taking my family to a location that’s safer than where we live. Oh well, needs must.

That's what I'd do, i wouldn't quarantine for 14 days "just in case"

Id stay at home till i could get tested and find out either way

He has in distance maybe but not in the amount of frequent travel between the canaries and mainland Spain.

Doubt there's regular daily flights from Sandown airport to rekyavik.

Thought it was already same conditions as mainland.

It is/was for quarantine.

What's changed is the fco advice. Yesterday it only covered mainland Spain, today they've now added the canaries and balerics too

You can still travel but you have no comeback on insurance if you do. Also holiday companies more likely to cancel so you get easier refund.

Thought you could travel but had to quarantine when you came back?

The islands have been put on the same restrictions as the mainland now. Only essential travel

We booked with TUI. Every penny refunded no problem.

I'm glad you got sorted easily.

I've had an email to say that the cancellation fee has now been overridden with the 'Coronavirus Cancellation Fee Override' - why that wasn't automatic I have no idea

I'll now await to see if I actually receive the money or not.

"Voluntarily cost yourself hundreds of pounds isolating for a fortnight because there's no recourse to SSP. Meanwhile we'll all be down the pub."

What a rubbish sales pitch.

My missus did it. We had made 3 payments and they all came back within 24 hours of each other. We did originally have to make the final payments even though we knew it would be cancelled. ‘ Coronavirus cancellation fee override’ sounds like marketing bollocks.

He's trying too hard surely?

Wouldn't mind but an app just tells the authorities who the phone's been near. Leave the bugger at home and its not been near anyone.

Ridiculous mate

Got the bulk paid back onto the credit card this morning.

I'm now just awaiting the deposit(s), where were paid by paypal.

The lady on phone said she couldn't authorise those, but would send it the finacial team (Im guessing at it was paypal as aooposed to transfer/credit card).

Its been an experience.

Same with us. Each repayment back to where the payment came from. Glad you got it sorted.

Cancelling with Jet 2 is hard work, can't cancel online anymore, no one is answering the phones and the "Live chat" feature is unmanned, sent an email and they haven't responded.

I found out at the weekend that our hotel in Turkey isn't opening till next spring, we were due to go with Jet 2 in Oct this year. Jet 2 haven't even informed us that our hotel isn't open, we had to find out ourselves.

I decided to cut my losses and just lose my deposit, the balance was due next week.

If i'd waited i could probably have got a refund/vouchers, but that would have meant paying the balance and i don't fancy chasing them for my money.

The Travel industry must be absolute chaos behind the scenes at the moment.

How's Grant Shapps getting on?

He'd better not break quarantine or he might get some nasty things written about him before keeping his job and getting away with it.
