I don’t think the club sack him. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if he decided to step away for a break if we don’t go up.

The comments he’s made since the turn of the year we dont know yet whether he was sewing the seeds there or as he acknowledges himself, his emotions got the better of him and it just came out in a way that wasn’t intended.

however, from the top down the expectation this season was to go up and if that isn’t achieved then he may feel he’s taken it as far as he can.

I do applaud him for what he has delivered over the past few years and overall he has achieved what he said he would when he came in. Got us playing lovely football. But there’s more to Just that in the modern game and for a former (quite recent) quite rugged and tough centre half not to have that built in to his teams simply baffles me.

He obviously knows the game and he talks about patterns and rotations and presses and all of that stuff but outside of that very rigid philosophy he has he has yet to demonstrate he has any other tactical nouse to change the flow of a game or nullify the threat of the opposition or make a change that makes us more dangerous. He talks about getting to the highest level possible but currently this, league 1, is him.

now there’s an argument that his approach would be more successful with better players and clubs in the champ might think that’s the case too and take him but in my opinion, if we were to go up his lack of flexibility would only be exposed further and more brutally with the squad he’s assembled here. Yes it would be improved but his nice airy fairy, don’t get your hands dirty, fall foul of the dark arts of the game approach would only be inherited by the new players too.

If we go up, without Evatt having a real lightbulb moment over Summer we'll be the Championship's Burnley

He isn’t walking anywhere. No manager ever does because it will mean they don’t get paid out, even more so when you’ve got shares in the club and I can only see that the clause attached to that will be “you can’t have these if/when you leave (obviously), if it’s our decision we pay you out, if it’s your decision you hand them back”. It can’t work any other way and therefore he is not walking anywhere.

One for the end of the season anyway. Long way to go yet and despite his shortcomings and my frustrations with him after last night’s game, if he still takes us up then he’s very much here next season and so he should be, if not then there’s a question. Until then, it’s all a bit premature.

Fair points and I do agree, why would you leave when you could get a payout by digging your heels in?

I do think the board have treated him exceptionally well though and I think not getting promoted would really damage his ego and he may want a break. For that reason I do think there’s a chance in this instance he could walk.

I do hope I get to see him shed some tears of joy upon promotion. These last few years must have really taken it out of him. Trying to rally yourself to go again after going close to promotion twice in a row would not be an easy task. Whereas promotion would spur him on and incentivise him.

I think it’s Playoffs for us at this point. I think we will get to the final where we will either win 5-0 or go out with a whimper in a drab 1-0 loss. Don’t even want to think about penalties.

Evatt's not perfect, show me manager who is, but if we hadn't have missed easy chances in our last two games we would have had 4 more points and been 2nd. Not Evatt's fault if we don't take easy chances.

Yes but we regularly miss easy chances. Point the finger at the strikers of course but over a period of time when you realise those missed chances by the same players weren’t an isolated incident then you start to look at why they are in the building and who brought them in? The buck stops across more than just the player

We’ve dropped points because of poor defending rather than missed chances.

Pressure is always on to score goals when you are conceding.

We’ve missed chances but we’ve also scored plenty, problem is that we’ve conceded as well.

Evatts done really well for us on a tight budget considering where we were but I can't help thinking he has now been sussed out as a one trick pony, he bought the players to fit into his style of playing, I now think he is just a good average league one manager and not the special one!

We'd be second if Baxter hadn't turned into Billy Crellin during his lay-off

Tight budget? 😂

Apart from Charlton paying £1.4m for a Hammers reserve, we’ve spent more than anyone in this league by a mile.

Think Charles should have been dropped before his injury, he wasn't scoring and needed a rest.

Last night when he came on we went back to those tactics of 'get it wide' and cross it into a packed box, rather than down the middle or straight through.

Literally going backwards steps

I dont think over 2m spent is a tight budget in our league, most of that wasted!

Didn't realise how much we have spent as woolli and Steejay have pointed out I think that makes not going up even more frustrating especially as the great crowds we are getting give him so much backing how long before the frustration sees the support he is getting changed?

It is not the money we spend on players it is about players who have got away

Every man and his dog knew we needed a  rwb, Bastard in Midfield and a forward who found the net

Wilson, Baccus, and Taylor would have got us Promoted

Yes Evatt has been unlucky with injuries but as i stated after the Wigan home defeat we had no plan B.

Wish i had been proved wrong, but alas it proved to be right. Anyone with a nouce of intelligence  could work how Evatt sets his team out. Even to when and how he would make substitutions..............For me that is his major fault. Fuck the Data watch how the game is panning out.

Our forward line was not good enough last season .....Evatt words yet he signed everyone bar Kachunga.

I think we may win the play-offs, but for me he needs to change  his thought process or go.

He is too stubborn and i hope he does well wherever he goes and will always thank him for getting us to this level

I've never been his biggest fan, I do hope we still go up with some great games in the playoffs and I'm made to eat my words.

Maybe he thought he was already the finished article rather than learning a bit more? He's still a young manager and it's his first tilt with a largish club, it just seems we're on a bit of a repeat mode at the moment - not tactical inflexibility as such as perhaps he needs more help to find a way of countering some of the teams we come up against. Perhaps a bit more humility and bringing in some other backroom staff to help?

I mean we don't know as we don't see what goes on day to day but it's certainly frustrating to see this group play with such varying degrees of success.

Wilson & Taylor not really an upgrade on Cogley and Collins… a decent centre mid beast would have been.

Failure to go up and I think IE will walk, nicely dressed up by FV.

He’s aged considerably and I don’t think he’s handling the pressure too well.

If he can’t get us up this year then he won’t manage it next season in a far stronger league.

Yes he’s connected the town with the football club again but progress has been too slow and he’s simply not savvy enough, too stubborn, emotional & inconsistent in his behaviour.

There are so many similar themes to last season from both a results & performance perspective too.

Anyway FV need to show some balls, and appoint someone with a proven track record if we fail in the play-offs.

Warne will have been promoted 4 times from L1 after this season.

It may not be pretty football but who cares.

It works.

Wilson got the 3 points for Derby....simply that alone has cost us....Cogly has been  Brilliant

Collins again  no problem with his contribution but Taylor is a natural goalscorer.

Would have had them both and not signed either Vic or Dan

I doubt Collins would have got the game time if it was not for Vic, Gomes and Charles injuries.

Derby will sack Warne, probably about 8 games in like they did with his predecessor, once they realise he's shit in the championship

Dion Charles 320k

CMG 300k

Vic 500k

Dan 200k?

Collins 750k

Over 2M on forwards alone right there. And we're starting Jerome (out of necessity, i know). Can't say he's not been backed.

It's not exactly a binary choice between alehouse football and tiki-taka though

Nobody has questioned FV in  this. I think like Evatt they have also run there course. We have shifted 15k season Tickets why would we want to be promoted with the outlay the championship will cost us. Wages will be double, Bonus payments astronomical and our turnover would not cover anything like the extra money needed.

Like Evatt thank them and try and get better ie the Swiss after all since FV have come in we have been run by  the Swiss, the Government and the Bond.
