Good memories of Bishop Auckland , worked up there in the early nineties.

An ex-footballer Peter Creamer ran a pub on the square. He played a few times for Middlesbrough when they won the old second division under Jack Charlton . When I told him I was from Bolton & a fan he bought me a pint & told me of the roasting Peter Thompson gave him at Burnden . He was reserve fullback & he said he sort of knew he’d be in the team as it was over Easter , two games more or less together & the regular fullback John Craggs hated playing against Peter Thompson, so he was expecting Craggs to cry off injured which he did.Boro lost only ,I think , four games all season & only two away games one of which was at Burnden where we won 2-1 ,thanks mainly to Thompson who rinsed Peter Creamer dry .His career went a bit downhill after that but he managed a long career in the lower leagues playing for the likes of Hartlepool.

Dunfermline away fuck me that was 30 years ago when I did that. Think it was Alloa as well. Days when we did a proper Scotcher preseason. I’d do that again

If the B team do Curzon Ashton as usual I’ll wander down there. Decent set up close by

Was buzzing for about 30 seconds until I realised it clashes with Leigh v St Helens

Fiorentina were always my team in the Football Italia days, but I did at least get to see them play in Florence last season

Aren’t they also playing PNE on the Saturday so they’ll be having to play their full squad over the two games but probably their better players at North End?

No disgrace being rinsed by Peter Thomson just being on the same pitch is a privilege.
